😁I’m going to show you this really easy upcycle! First I’m taking my drill, then my hammer, then my chisel, then my sander, then my wire brush attached to my drill….oh and then my stain ! Easy peasy!❤❤❤😂😂😂

Hi and thank you for another great video tutorial. I love how the jewellery box turned out. I just finished decorating a small wooden box. I painted the outside white and then the inside very dark navy blue. I applied a blue IOD transfer to the lid of the box and then I pressed clay into a mold (by Redesign With Prima) and glued the molding around the outside of the base of the box, and finally, I used Pentart's 2 Part Fine Line Crackle Varnish all over the box and highlighted the cracks with charcoal grey pigment powder (you can also use eye shadow powder, believe it or not, to highlight the cracks, which is great because you can use any old eye shadow you've got and it doesn't cost anything, and, if you've got some Dixie Belle Dirt, you can also use that in the cracks) and then I distressed the edges of the box with sandpaper, applied a little bit of gold gilding wax to the molding and then I sealed the whole piece with solvent based varnish, also by Pentart. If you haven't tried any of the Pentart products yet I thoroughly recommend them because they work so well and they're not too expensive, which can be a problem with a lot of brands. BTW, I bought a can of the Rustoleum varnish that you used in this video and I was wondering if it's solvent based or water based. If you know, could you leave me a message sweetie please. Thank you so much, love from Amanda in Australia

You are the McGyver of Upcycling. I love your tutorials and videos so much and even after more than 15 years of upcycling I can still learn so much from you. I am from southern Bavaria in Germany and get up in the middle of the night just to watch your videos. They always make my day a little brighter and happier. Thank you so much for that! ❤🥰😍

I like all your up cycles except I wasn’t big on the yellow or gold whichever color of the yarn. But that was a great idea. I’m gonna remember that one. I’ve done over jewelry boxes like yours. I like the farmhouse look. Glass candle jar, like it black. It looked so pretty glowing on your table. ♥️😊👍🌟

Deidre I love that you saved the perfect attendance plaque. 🥰 The brass garland turned out really pretty. The hue of the beads paired really well with the yarn. I love the hooks you added to the coat rack. It looks so much better after your magic touch. And i loved the black as opposed to the silver on the base of the candleholder. Beautiful video!❤❤❤

Those are great projects, Deidre!❤ The tealight holder was gorgeous! I really like the black better than the silver, too. I have been holding on to a jewelry box that needed refreshing because of the felt inside the drawers and doors. I've been afraid of making a real mess, but I feel confident after watching your video. Thank you SO much!⚘

You know what would have been perfect for those stubborn glued-down hooks? A super sharp broad chisel. :) You can simply lay the wide blade of the chisel flat on the good area of wood, and gently slide it across into the hook's wood that's protruding from the pole. A super sharp chisel will cut through that glue joint like butter, and even if it was a tongue in groove construction with glue it would cut through that peg easily. You can get a chisel for very cheap and easily sharpen it until you can shave hair with it by using just a few sheets of wet/dry sandpaper made for metal, and either a flat sheet of glass or a very flat granite countertop. I start at 220 grit and flatten the backside until the entire blade tip has been sanded flat. Then I flip it over and sand the beveled topside area until it is also completely flattened. Then go up in grit on both sides until you get to 800 or 1,000 grit for a very smooth edge. Your last step will be to sand the backside until you will have a burr that's visible or tactile on the beveled topside. At that point, strop it on a leather belt. If you want a more delicate edge that's surgically sharp, you can instead do a back bevel on the backside which is where you use the 800-1,000 grit to sand the burr off from the backside at a very slight angle so that the backside edge is a bit pointed instead of being totally flat. That edge will cut your finger right open like a scalpel blade, easy. It's impressive how easily you can slice wood off with a properly sharpened chisel especially a back beveled chisel. The downside is more frequent sharpening when you do that.

You can also spray the little knobs on the jewelry box to change the look of them. I've used vintage buttons for knobs too. I sprinkle fine sawdust on the wet paint, let it dry and sand it off. It adds a nice distressed look. Also, I use mirror paint for the little glass doors. They look really cool! They look like old mercury glass. Super easy to do!

I loved the coat rack! Great idea! Do you have any videos on covering those 80's style cutout wood heart items? I have a wooden bench, shelf and coat hanger with pegs. I'd love to keep them, but that heart, ugh!🙄🤐

A lot of times I will cover them up with a thin piece of wood and put a graphic on it other times. I just embrace the heart and I had my own painting technique on it.
