I watch and am subscribed to a few different wood turning channels. I have never commented just watch. But I have to tell you you are my absolute favorite. Your pieces are true art. And I have so much respect for your love of the wood it's natural beauty and the beauty that is the imperfections. I share that same love. And I want to say thank you for sharing that love and your amazing talent. It really is an absolute pleasure and honor to witness what you bring out of the woods you work with.

Just back from a visit to Will's channel. Great work over there. I don't believe those could be human hands doing the pouring. Must have been a CNC controlled robot. NOBODY has hands that steady and eyes that good! I've got my first couple of natural edge pieces in process although I had to work with green wood. Rough turn, wax and wait 4 months. Not everybody has a Tuffy Marginez sending them goodies!

Hi Phil what an inspiration you are to aspiring woodturners i love the information you provide with each turning that you do and how you study the piece to get the best from it, i know it does not always go the way you hoped but that gives great encouragement to people who are new to this and to let them see that sometimes you dont get what you had hoped for and that if it has not worked for you do not give up just try another piece practice makes perfect along with a lot of patience from a70 year old apprentice keep up the great work and thank you Jim.

While our style preferences differ somewhat (I know that you are aware of this) , that is a beautiful piece of wood! Wish I could have stopped on the edge of the freeway today-- large maple logs, sections and good sized long branches down in the easement grass, several places. But pouring down rain and nasty traffic said "Do NOT stop if you value your life!" So, sadly, kept on keepin' on. Maybe next time. Good turning!

Oh Phil what a gorgeous sculpture. To me its definitely a sculpture. And you say you're not an artist. I'm not sure but it was 1 of the great marble sculptors that said that he didn't create the shape but saw whatever was in the marble and released it. You have a great gift for releasing the shape that was always there in the wood. Beautifully awesomely gorgeous 😍

Howdy Phil, just a quick note to thank you for the inspiration. I recently started turning and I have enjoyed your "what's inside this" approach to wood turning. But this one is great I love it. Thanks for showing me how its done! Its too bad mulberry doesn't stay that color for long, It will be a dull brown in a few weeks.
