The whole car discussion makes me so happy I live in a walkable city with good public transport so I no longer have to deal with that shit anymore. The reason why almost every 16 year old in America drives is because, outside a handful of cities, you literally have no mobility or independence otherwise. Cars represent freedom for those people - not even metaphorical freedom. There's nothing, not even a corner shop within walking distance in most cases. You're fortunate if there's even a sidewalk that doesn't abruptly end. It's dystopian. It's also a reality that's impossible for people from Europe/Japan to understand unless you've lived it

Joey and Connor are still stuck in the same old school MMO mindset, which can be a big deterrent when trying to get into FFXIV. From my experience it's better to approach the game as a JRPG fan first since the story is the main driving point, which is also why some people are calling it more of an RPGMMO than an MMORPG.
@IABJordan2 жыл бұрын
100%. I’ve tried all of the other big MMO’s and couldn’t get into them, just assumed I wasn’t into the genre. Until my friend got me to try FFXIV a little over a year ago. I’m still not caught up on the story because I’m taking my time and enjoying every aspect of the game. A majority of the “problems with MMO’s” that Joey and Connor were both bringing up were completely foreign to me, because I haven’t run into any of those situations.

This! The creator made the game with casual players in mind, you don’t have to do huge raids unless you want to and even if you do they stay there forever. You can take your time on things, the only stuff that’s timed is like optional holiday events and those take not even 30 minutes to do and the time limit is like 2+ weeks maybe.

I like speedrunning, but I see his point. 1:19:50 You're looking for the word "daggerboard". A keel is the fixed version with a counterweightfor more stability, used on most sailboats. Daggerboards have no counterweight, so you need to micromanage your body weight more on boats without a keel Sails, keels and daggerboards all work like wings, providing lift. The keel or daggerboard counteracts the sideways forces produced by the sail, making you go forward instead of sideways. In some cases, the keel can be rotated to move the counterweight, but the keel then cannot provide any lift anymore, so it also has daggerboards. The keel can also refer to the lowest beam on which everything else is built, and it may not be providing lift in that case

1:19:53 That part of the boat is called a keel on larger boats but on small dinghys it’s generally called a centreboard or daggerboard, it stabilises the boat and keeps it from capsizing or getting pushed too much to the side by the wind when it’s coming at you from the side, if you take it out the boat rolls over really easily

Aussie here. I've volunteered in a few canteens. The primary school one charged an extra .50c for cheese on hot dogs. The high school one I'm currently at does not. We also don't charge for sauces, plastic forks or spoons. Unless you haven't bought any food from the canteen - then it's .10c. School terms - Term 1 - Ja/Feb - about 10 - 11 weeks, then a 2 week break. Term 2 - 10 - 11 weeks, then a 2 week break. Term 3 and 4 are generally 10 weeks each with another 2 week break in between them. Between term 4 and term 1 we have a 6 week break. This includes Xams holidays too. And all up, that add up to 3 months of holidays. Licences depend on the state that you're in. My state you can go for your L's when you're 16 and have to complete 250hrs of driving with a licenced driver in all weather conditions - this includes night driving. Once you've done that you can go for your first set of P's. Which is once you're 17 and have done the required 250hrs.

1:36:25 We have that in France, we have a card with lunch credits and use it to enter the building, then we pick what we want (and there's a lunch man / lunch lady here for serving your chosen main dish). It's not that great in truth, but it's definitely better than having kids use lunch money everyday or eat outside. They just have to fill their card once in a while.

Really late but the thing Conor is talking about for the thing you insert into the sailboat is most probably a daggerboard. it helps to stop the boat from drifting too much. The Keel as shown in the pic is usually fixed and cannot be inserted. A catamaran is usually sailed with 2 grown adults, even the sail version. Why did the madman let a kid/teenager do it alone? sure he was nearby but its definitely not safe for someone that has never really sailed before. The most I'd let someone with no experience touch is a Laser pico, byte or laser radial.
