The reason why the line between cool and cringe is so paper-thin is because there is no line in the first place, instead it’s an overlap. You can’t divide things into strictly cool and strictly cringe, since most of them are both, entirely depending on the people you ask. Some people think watching Anime is cringe and other people think watching Anime is cool. The same goes for video games, math, reading, cooking etc.

Coolness is a cousin of charisma. If you're charismatic people will find the stuff you do less cringe. Also "cool" people rarely if ever try to do too much. Less is more.
