@@honourethefire5794 We agree the Sex Pistols while fun and with A classic LP were very good but they were overrated hogging the limelight and getting all the credit. Lydon these days is an utter cockwomble and utter shameful and a nasty embarrassment like neo Nazi Morrissey although both did do seriously good work (Pil 1st 4 LPs; Smiths) earlier.

Holy shit. The Buzzcocks are one of my favorite bands of all time and I never noticed that he deliberately omitted gender pronouns. I'm trying to go back to work after watching this video but I have goosebumps and I'm freaking out with how beautiful and genius that is.

I feel the same way about Husker Du. Even though I knew (thanks to a SPIN magazine interview) that Mould was gay, I never thought anything about their love songs save "man singing to woman." I guess I read my straight, cis-gendered self into the tunes. So be it... And like the Buzzcocks, who cares? Great music is great music. That gay and/ or bi people pissed off religious right-wing jackholes and skinhead idiots made the music even better. :-)

@@daisyyy7041 But is it still the Buzzcocks without Shelley or Devoto? Shelley's voice is so distinct that the songs just wouldn't be the same without him, like a glorified cover band. Are they gonna get some young dude to replace him like they did with Darby Crash and the Germs when they made that movie? Or it's like when Lemmy died and the other guys in Motorhead said that was it, you just can't replace Lemmy. It's more honorable for bands in this situation to just tour under a different name but play the original band's songs, more respectful to the legacy of the deceased imho

The Smiths are overrated. The Clash (slightly less overrated), or even Joe Strummer exclusively, would be an interesting video because they got shit on by the whole punk scene when Strummer started changing their sound. I've heard people say "the Clash only put out one real punk record" and when I was younger I bought into that hype, but the more I listen to them, the more I think that at the end of the day they made some pretty good music, and pretty eclectic at that

Nice take. Would've like to have heard more about the music itself, such as the sophisticated chord progressions of songs like Paradise.

i distinctly remember hearing "what do i get?" in a freaking volkswagen commercial when i was in high school, and i was like, "WHAT IS THIS SONG?? WHO IS THIS???" and didn't find out for years. (vw also did this with "pink moon". thanks, i guess?)

On San Diego radio, "Everybody's Happy Nowadays" is THE Buzzcocks song. I'm not sure why that is if "Ever Fall in Love" sold more records.

In the last two videos I have watched I am really surprised that Suicidal Tendencies, were not included in it for their outstanding influence to the So Cal Punk Scene

clearly this is one of the standout punk hits, but hope by the descendents (mentioned in this video as well) is somehow most iconic for me, enchanting but powerful at the same time, undeniably 100% punk, just like new rose (which was not meant to be about love btw).

This is the only Buzzcocks song I like (although I hate the Fine Young Cannibals version) and I can certainly relate to it. This song will always remind me of that person.
