All the food looks amazing. Great tips on where to eat and where to stay away from. We did a Champagne tour with a group in Epernay France a few years ago and it was so fun to be with a group of people from all over the world, but next time we might have to do a private food tour wherever we go. Glad to see you guys living life!

Thank you for watching :) ahh we really want to rent a car and do a wine and champagne tour through France :)!! I bet that was incredible . Thank you:) I just Google free walking tours in whatever I’m city and see what comes up… there are usually a few … and I read about each and then pick one. They are great and usually in all major cities . You get to meet a local and learn about the cities history … we like to do it when we first get somewhere so then we get use the tips they give us for the rest for our trip ;)

Hey guys! One thing Sara and I would LOVE to see was how much stuff costs! I think everyone has this idea of a year of travel being crazy expensive and we all know that’s not true! If you could put the local cost of each meal or tour, we would LOVE that! 😍😍😍
@KIMandERRAN3 жыл бұрын
Yes totally agree :) people think it’s way more expensive then it really is . We actually just recorded a podcast that will come Out this Tuesday where we speak specifically on budget and what we are spending etc:) We also have a budget series on the pod where we talk about how to plan and figure out what your budget should be for long term travel :) they are episodes 51-53:) We plan to do a video about a day of travel and what we are spending :) It will differ depending on what your travel style is … but it will give some context :)

Hey:) Thank you for watching:) You guys are going to love Rome. It's such an awesome city and so much yummy food:) So we got a SIM card while we were there. It was so easy....Vitacom I think was the company.... You can get them anywhere....they wlll be more expensive at the airport but it's convient bc then you will have service right away. Your cell phone does have to be unlocked in order to use a SIM:)

Great stuff. What is good tip$$ to leave a guide?
@KIMandERRAN Жыл бұрын
Good question and Thanks!! Honestly we start with a base of 20% of the cost no matter how the trip goes. As the perceived value to us increases based off personality and our overall feeling of the experience we increase it by $5, $10, or even $20. But that is personal preference and what you feel comfortable spending. If people go above and beyond and I leave feeling like I had an experience that was unique and I consider my guide a friend then that is a priceless experience and I want them to feel that I received value from them.

I'm dubious of food tours because often they're getting kickbacks from the establishments in order to take tourists there. To be safe, the only place I ever eat in Rome is at the Via delle Muratte 31.

Great video! I was wondering if on top of payment for the tour if you also tip the guide. Tipping in the US is different than in Europe so I wasn’t sure. Thank you!
@KIMandERRAN2 жыл бұрын
Yes and great question!! First off thanks for watching and for your kind words....Arturo was and is amazing and we tipped him between 40-50 Euro I can't actually remember exactly how much we gave him but he definitely got more than we normally tip just because he made that experience what it was.but tipping is obviously at an individuals discretion. If the guide on any tour we take went above and beyond and we really connected with them and felt like the experience was extraordinary we are willing to tip high to show our appreciation. But for a guideline (from OUR perspective, not everyone feels the same) since it was the two of us (Kim and I) we would tip between 10-20 Euro each for the guide. Thanks again for watching and asking a great question, much appreciated!! -Erran

We loved the new video, and really enjoyed the foodie focus; it is nice to have some suggestions for places to eat when we get to Rome next year. However, your camera had some serious issues with focusing??? I don't know if it is from the settings, or if you maybe just need a new camera? We found our old camera was doing the same thing, and had to get a new one, the Sony ZV-1, and so far have no complaints.
@KIMandERRAN3 жыл бұрын
We just bought a new Fuji x-s10 and the focus was intentional as a transition into the scene, I guess you all weren’t a fan of it. All good. Just something I picked up from other KZbinrs I was trying out. If you notice it went into focus with the beat of the song, and the others, I liked shooting at a F4.0 then expanding into the shot. Just my style I was trying for added visual effect. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. We appreciate the support. -Erran

Do you know anyone who as gotten in touch with Arturo and was able to schedule a tour? If he isn't working with Eating Europe anymore than wondering if he is doing this on his own. He did get back to us but I want to make sure someone else has been able to book him successfully before we make a deposit. Other tour guides we've used didn't ask for a deposit. Always best to check before sending money.
