Come join Jan Winhall and I in a heartfelt live video session where we explore grief, trauma, and addiction. Our conversation aims to illuminate the complexities of these experiences and the essential role of support and connection in healing.
We will delve into the intricate and profound relationship between grief, addiction, and trauma, and emphasize the importance of embracing the pain of grief as a pathway to adapting to loss. Our discussion will also cover the nature of grief and loss, and recognize grief as a natural, yet often misunderstood or avoided process. There is a crucial need for support and connection during these challenging times.
Our dialogue will extend to examining behavioural patterns, particularly maladaptive behaviours and transgenerational patterns commonly associated with grief and loss. We will also discuss coping strategies for grief and addiction - including the importance of structuring time and engaging in activities that ground us in the present moment.
Additionally, we will reflect on the Paradox of Healing in grief - the idea that healing often comes through facing the pain we tend to avoid. Our conversation will also touch upon the unique challenges of Children's Grief, especially in situations involving an absent or neglectful parent.
We will further explore topics such as the impact of losing faith and the accompanying sense of community, the intricate relationship between grief and hope, the critical role of community support in times of despair, and the importance of love and the presence of an 'enlightened witness' in healing from trauma and addiction. Lastly, we will share thoughts on how ageing brings stability, wisdom, and a unique perspective to our experiences of grief and loss.
