This isn’t really an item but what I like to do is put glow in the dark tape on my most important items so that they’re within easy access at night; in low light situations; when I don’t have access to a torch etc.

I like to watch your video but most of the travel gear applies to men travelers. But love the travel tips as a lady traveler love to buy souvenirs so I always bring a foldable bag so convenient I used to buy grocery in other countries because I'm gluten intolerant. 2nd item I copy from you guys is carabiners with lock. I used carabiners as my backpack lock which save my bag from pickpocketers in market. Also I used to my hairties get organized. 3rd my wallet has led small flashlight used for emergency happened when the electricity goes out were able to used the stairs going down. 4th my ballpen has scothtape and electrical wrap around it I used for emergency too. When my charger wire was caught in the edge of the table, it almost tear up but I had an electrical tape around I was able to fix my cellphone charger wire. My husband was shocked where did I get an electrical tape. I said I bring it along with me. What? I said, I'm a girl's scout I'm always prepared and ready. Even big plastic bags I bring it I lined it inside my carry-on as back up for my dirty and wet clothes or grocery use.

A small flashlight, especially one with a very low power setting. Handy for finding things you drop on the plane, without bothering everyone around you. Like the multi tool, you don’t realize how much you will use it until you have one in your pocket.

@@sogregarious It is hard to beat the Streamlight microstream. There is a AAA version, and a USB rechargeable version, although it’s “low“ output of 50 lumens is a little brighter than I would like for a low setting. I like some of the mid range Olight flashlights, because they have a “moonlight“ mode which ranges anywhere between 1 and 5 lumens, bright enough to find something that you have dropped, but dim enough to not startle everybody around you

Great suggestions here as usual. I love the Bellroy wallet! For tiny, ultralight, cheap and disposable, I use a P38 can opener as my multitool of choice. Limited usability but good enough if you sharpen the edge. No TSA or other hassles in 20+ years of travel. Also like to bring a small black microfiber cloth for cleaning eyeglasses, drying hands in bathrooms, wiping sweat, spills etc. Hangs on a carabiner to dry. Keep the great ideas coming because I’m hitting the road again, soon.

Aw, you missed the best one: the Flipside wallet. I’ve found that it wins in any contest for the fastest access to the cards you want. It won’t win any points for beauty, but it’s amazing for functionality- especially with accessories that expand its capabilities to hold even more of your stuff.

I love the options for each item. I like my RovyVon A5 flashlight. It's the size of a pinkie, but super bright, and the sidelights are a good lantern. The red light won't affect night vision. I also take a power strip. I often room with multiple people who have multiple devices to plug in, so my power strip limits my outlet use to 1, and others can plug into it as well. Now that I don't have to take care of my mom, I look forward to my 3 trips this year.
@pen25

this right here. i bought an outlet doubler. basicly is a regular us plug that had a plug on the back side and a short 6 inch extension that allows another plug. turns 1 outlet into 2. on my trip to viet nam i used one of those ungrounded plug adapters at one hotel because the plugs were too deep and didnt allow the ground plug. there was a time i really could have used a small 3 outlet strip.

instead of spending a ton of money on gear pouches home depot lowes walmart and even target has flat pouches often times in 3 pack multi sizes. 11 bucks for the husky 3 pack. even have see through windows. found a molle admin pouch on amazon for 13 bucks. there are much cheaper water bottles. ive scored 20 oz bottles for 5 bucks, my current bottle is a contigo that i use with a filter that will filter 250 gallons of water for virus's and 2000 gallons for everything else. thing is its convertible to a gravity. for that i use a sawyer to filter the water with the squeeze and use my uvbrite bottle to kill virus's 14 days in viet nam and drank nothing but tap water i filtered and treated.

Wallet - well, rather yes than no, but even the Fjallraven isn't minimal enough. It doesn't fit into a jeans pocket. I have a tiny flat zippered pouch made of colorful XPac. Maybe 10 grams heavy. Merino hat - OK, packable puffy - OK. The crossbody... Uuugh, IDK. I found the sling bags pretty much useless because the minor items like keys, phone, wallet fit nicely into my pockets. On the other hand, the sling won't help me to stash a book from a museum or food from a grocery. So when the pockets are getting insufficient I opt for the backpack without half-measures. Never regretted an extra backpack, but regretted a helpless fanny pack a lot. But for pocket-less people probably it is fine. Bottle - definitely yes. Carabiner... Uhmmm, no) It was pretty funny to see hanging the bag to the fancy biner right near a normal stationary hanger. Come on, the upper loop of a backpack works perfectly with hangers without any intermediaries. I personally never felt a need in such device. Multitool - keychain-sized one probably would be OK, but can't tell. Pliers-with-a-knife type of one would ban you from flying with carry-on. What is really must have for me at any trip, is a loooong (1.8-2m) charging cable. Fantastic thing. Allows almost wireless capabilities.

I could never be a "minimalist" because I cannot afford 150 dollars for one shirt. It's as if you need an abundance of extra cash to be minimalist. Now that's funny

Any tips on deodorizing clothes that you’re traveling with? After 3 consecutive wears my Smartwool top is having some odor at the armpits, and I’d like to spray something on it to wear it out one more time.

Hi, some people use feebreese for textiles. You can pour some in a smaller spray bottle and take that. Just keep it under 100ml (3 oz) if you are flying. It counts into your liquid allowence. Another option is baking soda. Since it is a poweder, it will not count into the liquids and it has multiple uses - it's good for an upset stomach, it's a mild abrasive if you need to clean something and has good deodorazing capability. Dust it on the garment (or into shoes if they are smelly) and let sit. After a few minutes dust off and you are good to go :-)

pick up a small refrigerator ionizer. they are rechargeable. put your items in a waterproof bag drop the ionizer in the bag. seal the bag after turning the device on. let it run over night. best thing to do though is wash the thing.

So one thing not mentioned in any travel video/vlog/blog is that merino wool runs very small, 1-2 sizes smaller than normal clothing. I've ordered 3 different brands, one from Amazon and 2 from the specific brands website and they are all super tight and form fitting which isn't flattering for overweight people, but would be fine for a baselayer. I'm wondering what people do with their passport when they are roaming around? There are tons of travel wallets but a passport doesn't just slip into your pocket and I cant imagine leaving in a hotel is safe?

Hey Amy - curious, which Merino brands did you order? We've found fit to depend entirely on the brand, and not the fabric itself. - Tom

@@PackHacker Wooly was the Amazon brand, Woolx I ordered directly from their website (the tshirt fit fine, but the long sleeve versions were small), and one was from Duluth Trading.
