Finally an American covers North Germany and not Berchtesgaden, thank you 😍😍😍😂😎 Bremen is beautiful. Coming from Hamburg I admire the more mediavel character of the City centre. I learned quite some new things about Bremen's history, thank you! Wishing you both a happy life in Bremen. 🍀

Bremen is great for a day trip or short weekend trip, but I would definitely prefer to live in Hamburg long term (: I will have to do a video there when things calm down a bit.

@@taylorintransit3421 Yes, probably Hamburg has more options because it's bigger. What both cities share and also generally cities in Nothern Germany is a very liberal and open mindset. Has probably also something to do with the Hanseatic tradition and is probably the thing I love most about Hamburg.

@@PianistStefanBoetel Yes, in Hamburg the City is practical for shopping but it has no nice old City center, only modern buildings. Not iteresting really to stay. Bremen is nicer in that respect, but smaller though.

The Hanseatic League was a loose organisation of North German cities that dominated North European trade between Flanders, England and Norway via Germany to the Baltic countries and Russia and vice versa from the 12th to 15th centuries. At their strongest around 1370 they did a victorious war on Denmark and in 1400 exported the Rhenish Pound Silver currency to England (there firstly known as the Pound of the Easterlings, in the meanwhile shortened down to Pound Sterling😎)

Thank you for the addition! I didn't have much time to get into details about the Hanseatic League, so I'm glad you mentioned it in the comments! I remember being very confused why the Bremen license plate was HB. :D

This video does a good job. Twelve centuries of history in twelve minutes. I come from Bremen and it is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. You describe it as "mid-size". It is the tenth largest city in germany. Your report of the "Viertel" is a little bit of difficult, because this area has two faces. The one is the multicultural character of the variety of shops and restaurants. The pitoresque collection of the "Bremer Reihenhaus" (terraced houses) buildt mostly in the 19th century. The other face is the presence of a drug scene, crime, violence and prostitution in the evening or during the night. A very interesting area, but you have to know where you go at which time.... But keep enjoying your time here....

The Roland was a common symbol in the middle ages to show that this city has the status of imperial city, meaning that there was no nobility having a say over it. Those cities were only subserviant to the Emperor, no one else and they had a seat at the Reichstag, the medieval German parliament.

Hi- I am originaly from Bremen and I am sorry to say that you stept into a tourist trap. If you place both your hands on the feet of the donkey of the bremer musicians it is good luck- if you place only one hand on one of the feet you are the donkey yourself 😉I liked the video a lot and it was so nice to see the citycenter again. Hi, Elena! I would recommend browsing for restaurants in Viertel. Whenever I am there I stop for a burrito at this small corner shop but there are a lot of sit down restaurants. If you are on the Schlachte along the river you will find more traditional German food but it's a bit pricier. There is also a cupcake place that is so cute calls Coockies Cupcakes that I love! 🙃

@@taylorintransit3421 Hallo Taylor, thanks for your reply, again a very nice video, I'm from Bavaria and I was 3 years ago the first time in Bremen and more or less visited the same sections. You have explained this very well, Bremen is an old (former rich) Hanseatic town with a lot of history also the "vibes" of the town were really good described. Really good impression about the city and the sights. The think the image is flipped as in 8:30 the text on the plate on the house is flipped and in 11:38 I thought you are sitting on the drivers seat and it was the right seat, but maybe I'ḿ wrong.

I must have it set in my settings that when I am using my front-facing camera that it is mirrored. I was sitting in the driver's seat! I'll have to change that. Thanks for pointing it out!

@bobabier5394

No. Coz football is not important. You could make a video about football and stadiums in every friggin small city in Germany and it's kinda our national sport. I understand that. But actually it's not really important for visitors. You really got to be into football otherwise it's not that interesting to see a huge stadium and learn about a football team. I was showed some sports memorials and stadiums in the US and it really was not of interest for me! I was like... Ok, a big stadium. Ok, a team with some kind of history. But how important is friggin football compared to all that history you can learn? Learn about Werder when you visit Bremen quite often. Otherwise it's just unimportant. And i say this as a person which loves Bremen!
