The history of it is cool but I feel like reading about it and seeing pictures online was almost the same. My favourite part of that trip was probably other things in the same town like the cathedral. Don't get me wrong, I love travelling and if you have the money to go everywhere in the world then you might as well but if you have limited time/budget then I'd go somewhere different, personally. Thankfully, I was living a short train ride away at the time so it wasn't too much of an investment on my part but I definitely wouldn't fly just to see it.

I actually met a guy who's been to Antarctica. I was his Uber driver, and he just casually ran that by me and I'm like "HOLD UP WAIT A MINUTE repeat that?!?! Did you just say you've been to Antarctica?!?!" He said it was an opportunity that fell in his lap, a friend was going with a group as part of a field study or something like that, and they asked if he could come along as well. He even showed me the ID tag he had while he was there, it was still strapped to his backpack. Explained to me the whole adventure. I'm like "Dude, do you even realize how ridiculous that is that you've been to Antarctica bro?!?!" lol
@mafulque23 жыл бұрын
You can pay a tour to Antartica if you go to Ushuaia, Argentina. The ships start there and arrive at Antártica in a few days, it's about 5K USD for round trip all included. I recommend to visit Usuahia, it's a beautiful city!

Love the part of 'Authenticity, all the way through.' When we travel to another country, we are all tourists. That's it. We can still talk to locals and get to know a place a bit, of course, but we're still simply visiting and don't know everything. And that's okay. I notice quite some travel influencers talk about how they can travel as authentic as possible through a country that's not their own, and it often includes tons of stereotypes. That's logical, as they're obviously not familiar with every culture on the planet, but then don't say it's 'sooo authentic', while it's not. For instance, I'm Dutch and travelling as authentic as possible through The Netherlands doesn't involve smoking weed while riding a bike, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone says it is haha
