Most people purchase travel insurance right after making the initial deposit/ payment, but I do one step further. After carefully planning for the trip (which airline to go with, which tour/ cruiseline to travel with, etc) and before making any reservations (flights, cruises, excursions), I always contact the travel insurance agency/ travel insurance company to obtain a list of no-cover suppliers. This is a list of airlines/ cruise-lines or tour companies that have declared bankrupt or have made a public announcement about filing for bankruptcy or going on strike. Once the news becomes public, travel insurance company will not cover your trip if anything happens. Travel insurance company/ agency will provide this list to you AFTER you purchase the travel insurance, but sometimes it’s a little too late as you already book the flights/ cruises. Always ask to see this list BEFORE making any reservations.

THANK YOU for sharing this valuable tip, @purplerose9041! You've highlighted an essential step in the travel planning process that many might overlook. Being informed about no-cover suppliers before making any bookings is indeed a smart move, ensuring that you're fully aware of the risks associated with potential bankruptcies or strikes. At G1G, we understand the importance of this proactive approach and strive to make comprehensive information readily available to our clients. While it's standard practice to provide a list of no-cover suppliers post-purchase, we appreciate the need for travelers to have access to this critical information upfront especially since our founders were burned by the "fine print" in travel insurance documents during there first international trip which left them with a significant medical debt which was not covered by there travel insurance. To support this, we encourage potential clients to reach out to us for pre-purchase consultations. Our team is ready to provide not only the list of no-cover suppliers but also personalized advice on how to best navigate the complexities of travel insurance for your specific journey. This ensures that you can make informed decisions about your travel plans and insurance coverage, even before any reservations are made. Your strategy underscores the importance of thorough preparation and informed decision-making in travel planning. We're here to support that mindset by offering transparent, comprehensive guidance to help protect your travels from the get-go. For anyone planning their next adventure, feel free to contact us directly to discuss how we can help secure your trip from unforeseen events. Let's make your travel planning process as smooth and informed as possible!

What if I booked a flight with air canada to narita japan and then booked a different flight to a different asian country but air canada decided to cancel my flight months or weeks before my trip. Will the insurance cover my flights with other airlines that will get affected by cancellation or delays made by air canada?
@G1GTravel
@G1GTravel 8 ай бұрын
Hey there! Awesome question. So, travel insurance offers great value and protection for those tricky multi-flight trips. Make sure your insurance covers starts from the day you leave home until the day you get back home, and second, you include the cost of ALL your flights, and you'll be set. If Air Canada cancels that first flight and messes up your other flights, you've got financial protection against the lot expenses of the other flights. Look for specific benefits like 'trip cancellation' or 'missed connection' when you're picking your travel insurance plan because depending on weather you would cancel your trip, or if you are getting rebooked to a later flight would depend on which benefit you would use. And hey, give a G1G travel safety expert a shout when booking your insurance. They'll break it down even more for your specific journey. Safe travels!

So if my cruise costs $17,048 with a refundable deposit of $3,500...should I get travel insurance for the whole trip cost, or exclude coverage for the refundable deposit?
@G1GTravel
@G1GTravel 5 ай бұрын
Hi there and thanks for the wonderful question. You just want to cover your non-refundable trip expenses. That’s to make sure that you have the right amount of coverage in case you have to cancel and so that you can recoup your non-refundable expenses. expenses. You don’t wanna do more than that because your travel Insurance price is rated based on the amount that you insure. For that reason you also don’t want to be over insured and pay more for your travel insurance than you need to. The best way to calculate this is look at what parts of your flight or cruise etc are refundable if you had to cancel and then subtract that from the total that you’ve paid and that’s how much you want to insure. Just enter that amount as your trip cost when shopping for your travel insurance. 😊 🛳️ Safe travels✌️

@@G1GTravel It's not quite that simple. The cruise fare increases by $898 to $17,048 when making the deposit refundable. The the insurance for the non-refundable option is only $471 less, which means going with a refundable deposit results in an increase in total cost of $427. So in this scenario it's better to go with the non-refundable deposit.

@@charlesrhoades3106 Thank you for bringing up such an insightful point, @charlesrhoades3106. Your analysis between choosing a refundable versus non-refundable deposit showcases a keen understanding of travel planning and the financial implications involved. Indeed, as you've rightly pointed out, making the choice between these options is akin to making an investment, with the best investments starting from the price you pay for something. If securing a better price for a feature or benefit you're seeking seems like the smarter consumer move, then it aligns well with being a savvy traveler. However, it's crucial to consider the comprehensive range of benefits that travel insurance provides, especially for cruises. This includes coverage for missed connections, travel delays, emergency medical issues, and more. So, if your primary concern is protection against non-refundable trip expenses, you're on the right track. Yet, for those looking to safeguard against a broader spectrum of travel risks, opting for an all-inclusive package might be the most prudent choice. Each trip and traveler's needs are unique, making the answers highly contextual. Sure, that very well may be the case. Anytime you choose one of the options, you are essentially making an investment, and a good investment starts from the price you pay for something. So if you are able to get a better price for a feature or benefit you are seeking, then take that. It sounds like a smart consumer move. Just be aware of other benefits that travel insurance would offer, specifically for cruises, like missed connections, travel delays, emergency medical, and so on. If you are not concerned with those benefits and just want protection against the non-refundable trip expenses, great, you know what to do. But if you want to also protect against other travel risks, then an all-inclusive package would make more sense. Feel free to reach out to us at support@g1g.com or by calling us. One of our travel safety experts can help you make the best choice by diving into more details about your trip, ensuring your travel plans are backed by robust support, ready to assist in making your experience as smooth and secure as possible.
