it's portable in the sense that they wont bring the parts to your domain and assemble it there, it's pre-assembled and then (trans)ported over.

Point taken, but 99% seems high. That avy bag for one thing is an ingenious lifesaver in the correct circumstances (i.e., not Kent in the summer). They are very effective. Kind of a poor example to include in this.

I think that's probably why they're called 'gadgets' not 'tools' or 'equipment'. I'd define a tool as something to make a job efficient, equipment as something preparing you for a real eventuality and gadgets as stuff someone thought they could convince someone else (with spare cash) was a good idea at the time
