@@TheTravelingTogetherJournal is it illogical to purchase a van in Mexico for a trip through the Americas ?
@TheTravelingTogetherJournal
@TheTravelingTogetherJournal 5 жыл бұрын
@@hurricanealley8602 You may be able to get a cool model there that you can't get in the USA, but I don't know about the logistics of purchasing a vehicle there and leaving the country with it if you are not a Mexican citizen. I think that USA also has a larger used car market, so you may be able to get a used van for cheaper if that is what you are looking for. I guess it depends what country you are from.

Hello and thanks for sharing your journey. I wanted to make sure I under you correctly Re your comments concerning staying with the truck 🛻.... is there a significant issue with theft from vehs,,, so it was important to always be able to keep an eye on “your stuff”....? Thanks in advance!
@TheTravelingTogetherJournal
@TheTravelingTogetherJournal 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rob. We were concerned about our vehicle being broken into. Particularly when left on the street in cities at night. As a foreign vehicle we think we are a more tempting target and we had everything we owned in that truck, so it would be pretty devastating if someone did break in. But we never did have any issues with theft on our entire trip.

@@TheTravelingTogetherJournal - cool. Yes that was my impression but didn’t want to assume. I just invested in a business in Nic in the Esteli area. Hoping to get there to spend some time in country once things with the pandemic get more under control and less worries about getting back to my family (not getting stuck in Nic away from them.) Thanks for sharing your journey!🤙🏾

Hello¡¡¡ a quick question, how you guys prepare budget per day on your trip???
@TheTravelingTogetherJournal
@TheTravelingTogetherJournal 5 жыл бұрын
We saved up for 3 years and budgeted $50 USD per day. Sometimes we go over that (like when the car breaks down) but then we get extra tight and get back on budget over time.

Hi, You said many time parking and security for the car. Any tips for us ? Did you try police station and ask them keep an eye for the exchange a donation to police department ?
@TheTravelingTogetherJournal
@TheTravelingTogetherJournal 5 жыл бұрын
We often found restaraunts at the beaches with showers and restrooms that would let us camp as long as we ate meal there each day. We never stayed at police stations, but we know some people who did. The police station in Antigua, Guatemala is a popular one for travelers.

@@TheTravelingTogetherJournal Thanks . I'm still working on plan what to visit in span 2-3 weeks and more likely stay at San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua fo week. Unfortunately we don't have so much time and have to come back to work in VA. But we did many trip around country 5 thousands miles in two week, and Newfoundland, Quebec. So I'm crazy driver. But with your video you are gave to me a kind idea to see things. Tell me I'm crazy ; from Brownsville TX to Playa De Tamiahua Veracruz (if its safe) or Mexico city, than visit Tolantongo, Palenque (or on way back), Lago internacional, would like visit Maya Biosphere Reserve and area, but I'm afraid it's not enough time as need go thru Belize ( may be leave for next trip ) as we want got Yucatan and Bacalar. Definitely want to go to Volcán de Atitlán. Than cross to Honduras near Corinto and drive thru country in one day. I definitely needed a save camp near Honduras border was looking at Puerto Barrios, or Finca EL Paraíso. Or your suggestion. After crossing Nicaragua at CA6 Hwy and get camp at Balneario Delia. Termales if it's save. After visit some sites Reserva Natural Complejo Volcánico… and Cerro Negro.Than continue thru Leon to coast and camp in few places until reach Playa Maderas and stay there for week, visit sites around . And Leave Costa Rico and Cancun area for next time , unfortunately

@@phlfly10 If I understand you, your plan is to drive from Texas to Nicaragua in 3 weeks? This can e done, but it is a lot of driving and you will have to skip so many awesome places. I would recommend spending all of your time in Mexico. We spent 8 months there and still didn't go to every state. If you decide to drive to Nicaragua in that short amount of time, then I say you have a good rout planned. something to keep in mind is that road conditions force you to drive slower down there and we don't recommend driving in the dark. If you use the toll roads through eastern/central Mexico you will find the driving easy and fast. The roads are good in the Yucatan area. once you hit Chiapas on your way south west from the Yucatan the roads get real bad. The highway leading south through Guatemala to el salvador on the coastal low lands is good and easy, but you will likely be going up through the mountains to Atitlan and then to Honduras. These roads are mostly good but winding with lots of steep hills and make sure you ask around to other travelers before going to Atitlan because that area is known for having violent crime on some of the back roads. The highways in Honduras were generally bad through the central and western part of the country. The main highways in Nicaragua are mostly good, but there is no real costal road, so you must drive back to the highway then back out to the next beach each time you move.

@@TheTravelingTogetherJournal I was not looking to go thru El Salvador. I was thinking to to take Thru San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa to Nicaragua.
@TheTravelingTogetherJournal
@TheTravelingTogetherJournal 5 жыл бұрын
@@phlfly10 We skipped el salvador and drove through more of Honduras on the way north. It saves you a border crossing but it requires driving worse roads through more mountainous terrain and congested cities. Go with the rout that has more desirable attractions for you
