I planned to go again the same year but life happened, fast forward to Covid now we cant go anywhere. Im still dreaming to come again. Met some beautiful people and heard their stories. Good work Josh....I travelled along one of the Silk Road routes from Xi'an to Kashgar 9 years ago, taking 13 weeks. I loved the Xinjiang geography and people along the way. Really like your videos and "American style" positivity for the peoples and this area of the world; that in this day and age maybe have a bit of an, undeserved, negative image. Keep up the great energy you have! By the way.. do you ever come across any oil/gas or coal extraction sites during your travels in the west of the region?

As long as you're outside of the NFZ (No Fly Zone), you're technically fine. Still, it's up to local authorities.

Sand storms happen but they're not extremely common. They happen moreso around Kashgar, Hotan and other places around the Taklamakan.
