Wow! ❤I love your minimalistic ideas. You’ve given me lots of great tips for my next trip. I didn’t know that you could get sheets for toiletries, but I’ve been using sheets for laundry for well over a year now and love them! Minimalism for the home is just as important as minimalism on the road. :-) Always good for the environment, too!❤😊

Since I have no more apartment, my „home“ is my travel bag, so I absolutely agree about the minimalism part. 😂 And having no room to put anything makes it so much easier… The shampoo leaves completely dissolve, but the face wipes don‘t. But I really enjoy cleaning my face with them when traveling. :)

I often take 1 - 2 day business trips with 1 bag. My wheel aboard bag takes 2 spare business shirts & 3 spare ties. I have sports shorts & a polo shirt to wear in my hotel room with a pair of running shoes. I have used an expensive disposable razor in a glasses case that holds shave soap & a child's size toothbrush. I use screw top containers that are 5cm thick to carry my toothpaste. I bought a pocket atomiser that I have used for aftershave & also for mouth wash spray too.

Great tips! I like to use contact lens cases to hold some of my toiletries. Filling one side of the case will usually give me enough product (whether it is primer, make up foundation, petroleum jelly, even toothpaste) to last up to two weeks. I also have an assortment of other small containers and bottles that I reuse depending on the trip.

I had one of the Osprey ones and Heathrow took it, refused it, and made me use the disposable qt. one. They were quite nasty about it.
@MaggiFuchs5 ай бұрын
Oh no! They never made me repack it. But at the end of the day, it always depends on the airport security staff… I had one once who insisted that I have to take out every single cable. I was prepared with my fluids and my electronics, but my cables were all over my bag… 😅 I almost missed my flight that day.

I am not a big fan of solids. I recommend to think about the amount you really need of something and then find a container for it. Like, nobody needs 100ml of shampoo for a short trip or 50ml of makeup remover. With the right reusable containers, you can just use the stuff you use at home. As a razor, I found that the Gilette men blades clip on the Venus travel handle and one of the blades fits perfectly into a 1pair Ohropax container, keeping it safe and dry.

Hello Maggi! Good to see you again 😊I almost emailed you to ask how you were 🤔but life has been busy here too & it felt a bit too much maybe.This summer I need to take empty suitcases home with me, older parents, cleaning out stored things.... and so I may borrow that hiking toiletry kit idea to take with me on the plane. Excellent & teeny tiny! Hope you and Everson are doing well, and hope you both have a lovely summer!! It is a hot one, so stay cool! All the best, Lynne

@@MaggiFuchs Aww sweet! Things have been a little up and down, nothing serious, just busy, spring planting, big garden renovation, worries re drought, calving season, but all is going well now. Rain! Hooray! And that is fine! If you come up north another time, that is fine, I think things will be more calm in another year or so, as we are fixing up the house a bit this year. We can stay in touch, loosely, on that. Enjoy Spain!!! Best to you both, Lynne

I bought toothpaste tablets on Amazon so I wouldn’t need toothpaste in my liquids bag. I take 4 tablets per day - I use 2 each time I brush. Also there are small laundry soap “papers” made specifically for sink washing so you won’t have trouble rinsking the soap out.

Welcome! :) I usually leave the soaps inside, because then they foam very nicely and I just use the bag to scrub my body. But I notice that sometimes with some shampoo bars, it works better if I take them out and rub then on my hair directly. I hope that helps. :)

For over two years now, I use the ‘no poo’ method on my hair baking soda and water to wash, apple cider vinegar and water to condition. I can go 10-14 days without washing. I’ve just discovered that arrowroot powder makes a great dry shampoo for me. Leaving soon on a 10 day trip and taking only a tiny container of arrowroot (I’ll wash my hair just before we leave).
@MaggiFuchs6 ай бұрын
I find it so impressive when people can actually stick to the no poo method. I read a little bit about it a while ago, but I am not sure if it‘s for me. I read that there is a transition period that can be hard. But I love the simplicity of it. Maybe I need to read a little bit more about it… 🤗

@@violaineaudrey8841 I don’t have a formal recipe. Approx 1/3 cup water for each solution. To one, I add 1/2-1 tsp baking soda; to the other I add approximately 1-1.5 tsp ACV. Hope that helps!

I feel it's waste of effort and comfort trying use as much solid stuff as possible, when you still have some solids left and have to separate them on security check. For a couple of years I travel with similar zippered transparent 1L toiletry bag, put in my liquids, solids, toothbrush, comb and beard trimmer. And no one ever stopped me. So no need for plastic bags ever again. But I have started to put organic items (chocolates, cheese) on top of my bag. They always trigger the scanners.
