I’m an American doctor Tim. It sounds like you had acute cholecystitis and choledocolithiasis. In other words a gallbladder stone got stuck in your pancreas and was causing a severe infection. You had emergency surgery otherwise you could’ve died. I would make sure to tell the insurance company it was an emergency cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal surgery) and not an elective surgery. Stay well Timmy!! You are a gift to the world.

Hey bro, agree with cholecystitis (inflamed gallbladder) it sounds more like it was complicated by gallbladder pancreatitis (stone in pancreas) rather than Choledocolithiasis (stone in common bile duct). Which explains why he was having chest pain because he was actually having epigastric pain. Either way both suck.

Timmy, I'm a retired surgeon in the U.S.. You can now eat and drink anything you want, including fats. We, as humans manage perfectly without a gall bladder. Although, from health standpoints, reducing fatty food intake is always wise. You are lucky. A necrotic(dead or dying) gall bladder like yours with an impacted stone, like yours, can lead to its perforating , then sepsis, and death! Get a copy of your operative report and discharge summary from the hospital. Submit these to your insurance company. You had EMERGENCY, LIFE-SAVING surgery, and they must pay. Do not let them get away with this!. If necessary get legal counsel, but they must pay your bills! If that surgery and your endoscopic procedure had been done in the U.S. the cost would have been multiples higher.
