Skip the Fairy Pools and continue down Glen Brittle - when you reach the 'phone box and the houses head up the track to your left and visit Eas Mor - the highest falls on the island. The track seems to be nothing much but then the falls appear, dropping in a single cascade into a ravine.

All the places, you visited.. the coral beach, The Storr, Portree, The Quiraing… swum in the Fairy Pools.. even know that layby close to Dunvegan castle! One of the best trips of my life.. you have to go again in good weather!

Square sausage and a sea eagle, Alex, you can die a happy man now(but don't, not yet). So glad you went for it Emma and got in that water. I got in a freezing cold lake on a hike when no one else would, it felt fantastic, so invigorating! Everyone needs to "take the plunge" in whatever it may be when the mood strikes, you just have to. Thanks for sharing more of Skye with us, loved it!

Huge thumbs up to Emma for taking the plunge. We could feel that temperature through the screen! That thumbnail really captured the moment!👍🏻❤️👍🏻❤️👍🏻

I was literally talking at the screen when you were at the Fairy Pools to hike further away and you'll probably have it to yourselves - glad to see you discovered that on your own. Most people park in the paid lot, then walk a short distance, oooh and aaaah, get their photo ops and then take off. When we visited, our B&B host told us about the free car park someone else on here mentioned, so we hardly saw anyone when we visited (and we went in summer). I love all those places you visited and camped at, now I want to go back and see everything we missed on our too-short trip there.

I live on Skye and a few decades ago these places now heavily promoted weren't. A girl friend and I went skinny dipping near where Emma went in and were very surprised indeed when some people walked past - unheard of!. I now go to the likes of The Fairy Pools or The Storr to see the variety of people rather than the scenery. Most of the island is empty and unpromoted and on most walks that we go we see no-one. PS, on a sunny day in Summer the water in these pools becomes lukewarm; it's been running over bare rock for over half a mile and the rock absorbs heat and transfers it to the water.

Well done with getting in that water. My wife does the same and I have learnt that the expression to be wary of is “it is ok once you are in”. Translated this means it is bloody cold! Great series thanks, we hope to do the trip next spring, before the midges come out in earnest.

You were unlucky with the weather you got, so I hope you have learned to check before coming up to the best country in the world! You got to have the right clothing that will keep you dry inside - Never dry wet cloths in your van as your windows will steam up! The £5 charge at the fairy pools is to pay for the bridges that are going to be built over the streams and to repair verges where tight visitors park their vehicles! £5 FOR ALL DAY PARKING is a good deal, you would pay that for an hour down in London! You have only scratched the surface on your visit to Scotland, so many other foods to try out, great mountains to climb, Sail the Caledonian canal. walk the west Highland way etc! I have been all over Scotland in all my 70 years, so let me know where you fancy visiting next? Did you meet the midges on Skye? Loved your blog, look forward to more
