A no-nonsense look at Scotland's most famous island: The Isle of Skye. But will 3 days be enough?

Any excuse to go to Skye. At the very last minute we found out we had 3 days off together and wasted no time jumping in the van and making a beeline for Scotland's most famous island!
This meant we had no time to plan, prepare or even work out how/where we were going to film, so we put that out to you fine people on KZbin! Thanks so much for your awesome suggestions!
We managed to get round a fair few places in the 3 days, but was it really long enough to visit everywhere on our list? I think you probably know the answer, but please watch the video anyway :)
Filmed on the Isle of Skye from Saturday 23rd - Monday 25th April 2022. To get to Skye we followed the A87 followed by a left turn at Shiel Bridge all the way to the Glenelg Ferry. You can of course also take the bridge to Skye, but you'll see why we used this route in the video.
The Tom Scott video I reference is called 'The world's last turntable ferry has a really clever design'.
If you have any questions about a future visit to this wonderful island, be sure to pop them in the comments and I'll do my best to reply!

Great to see Skye again. We spent our honeymoon here 60 yrs ago, returned on our Silver and Golden wedding anniversaries. Now in our 80s and not fit to travel so far I enjoyed the video so much. Thank you Steve.

Hi Brian. Hope you're keeping well. I'm loving Steve's channel show me all the places I'm not likely to get back to in Scotland. I spent my honeymoon on Skye 50 years ago I'm 80 now And I have cancer, so I probably won't make it back again. Steve's little road trips are doing a lot for me, just as I'm sure they are for you. Also, I am in Canada now. Just thought I'd say hi. 🇨🇦

Steve and Alicja, this is the second time I've watched this video. It's been over 17 months since it was posted, so the timing of this comment might seem a bit tardy, but it's the current events in the world that make me appreciate this -- and other of your videos -- all over again. With all the war, disinformation, and economic uncertainty we're faced with today, your videos are like a warm hug on a cold, rainy day. Seeing the serene natural beauty through appreciative eyes, hearing the interesting dialogue supplemented by subtly humorous captions, feeling like a friend who's been invited along on your adventures... It's all priceless and a very welcome break from the news -- and a reminder that reality is not confined to the bad news we're bombarded with, but also the beauty of nature and accomplishments of people, past and present, who've helped shape our world in very positive ways. Thanks again for all that you do!

Many happy memories of Skye climbing in the Cuillins.Worked on the New Road from Scronsar to Slighan away back in 1962/1963.Deserted Single Track Roads not like that now and visited in Oct 2023 could not believe how busy it is now.At 92 years of age now like to remember it as it was in the 1960s.Stayed in croft at Lower Breakish for 7 months whilst working on the new road at Scronsar just as well with the Multitude of Camper vans on the Roads there now. Thanks Steve for your Video made a Old Man happy looking back

My daughter was in Skye a couple of weeks before Steve....and she was giving us the lowdown on most of the places you visited, meanwhile I'm just back from Polmont with visits to Burntisland and Lochearn. I used to go up to Lochearn fishing with my granda when I was a youngster, the eyes grew moist when I went to the place where we used to camp.....such happy memories.. Burntisland wasn't bad either I met the FM and had a photo taken with her. A cracking short trip up "back hame".... Thanks for an excellent video Steve, words alone cannot describe the beauty of Skye...the videos bring home what a glorious place it is.

Skye was part of my patch from 2006 through to 2016 when I left the Highlands after 25 years. My heritage on my late fathers side is Highland even though I am Edinburgh born and bred. This makes me want to return, it’s a stunning island.

I remember sailing in to Portree Saturday pm, needing diesel for the yacht, no shops open, no cafe, nobody around on a Sunday, and no diesel except by ordering 500 litres from a tanker. We found a fisherman who sold us some, it was 11p per litre! That was 1985, its all changed now!

Thanks Steve and Alicja for showcasing Skye and the work of the MBA, these shelters are a godsend. Their remoteness is their greatest asset. In out of the way spots, when the weather turns stormy these can make the difference between a chance to dry out and warm up and something altogether more drastic.

We visited Skye in early Sept for 3 nights in Portree, day trips from there. Our BABA was unacceptable, so we spent much of our time scrambling for a daily room every day. The weather was partly sunny, the views were SPAKTAKLER. I remember best Dunvegan Castle, the wild northside, & the Little Man. We picked up a Spanish hitch-hicker for a couple hours. 3 nights were not nearly enough, 5 or 6 easily. I enjoy good scotch, so the pubscene was enjoyable. Returning to Glasgow, Fort William was a pleasant discovery. Scotland Forever.
