@@TestosulIt's funny... And sweet that, even though the Protagonist already had a lot of friends on Timber Hearth, including his fellow spacers, the most significant friendships he'll make during his journey will be with two long-dead aliens who lived over 200 000 years ago. And yet, in the end, those two aliens are right there with folks he's known for his whole life at the end of his adventure.

@TrazynPrime 8 ай бұрын
@@protonjones54 the sense of closure that the your world has ended but in the act of creating a new beginning. Everything is done for you its time to make a new beginning for others to enjoy the universe. That may not include you but you lived your life and thats all you need. Life your life, you will die at the end but theres no need to fight it, you still have a long way to go before that end, make it worth living instead of dreading about the heat death of the universe that will happen billions of years in the future when we are dust in the wind. I agree, existential dread wasn't the vibe. For me, it was a profound sense of beauty. Who better to [do the thing at the end] than someone who's travelled everywhere, learned everything, met everyone, and everyone. Should [thing that happens at the end] happen to us, we'd be to have such a person be the sole influence on the process.

I would say it deserves a sequel, that I hope it never gets. The point of outer wilds is to except the inevitable, bitter end for a better tomorrow without you. Seeing that tomorrow kinda diminishes the point, don't you think?
@WoodlandDrake
@WoodlandDrake 8 ай бұрын
@@thatoriginalguy6213 to some extent... I'd say the point of Outer Wilds is more along the lines of "be curious" and regardless, a sequel could take the message, whatever it may be, and flip it on it's head. Every good point should have an equally good counterpoint. Suppose the next universe is in danger of ending prematurely due to one over-eager species seeking out the Eye. While we should accept a better tomorrow, we should still take advantage of the time we have; while we should be curious, we should still be cautious.

This genuinely made me cry. It’s hard to put into words how this game has impacted my life. I was never suicidal, but I can confidently say this game saved me. It showed me what the medium of games can do and the stories they can tell. The way a silly space game taught me to love my mortality, and to live, is insane. These devs may never know my name, but they’ll always have a place in my heart, and I’ll always be brought to tears when I hear a banjo.

The Hearthians are many, some are nervous, some are fearful, some are lax beyond reason, others devoted to discovering every corner they can reach. But they all have a common factor, they possess the spirit of adventure. The Nomai are highly technical, they love the universe we live in, and wish to understand its most esoteric aspects intimately. They share a cavalier nature with the Hearthians, almost to a fatal degree. The Travelers do not belong here, even less than the Nomai, their ships seem powered by mysticism rather than tech, their capabilities strange and unfamiliar. Their sin was fearing what comes next. The prisoner was terrified he would carry that cowardly nature into the next universe. But he brought with him something far more important, a desire to atone for the mistakes of his people, something gravely missing from the rest of the cast. Together they shape the next universe to have the best shot we’ve yet seen for it.

The video itself had some really nice touches. The orbs floating up mimicking the color changes of the sun over time to disappearing.. the green lantern/nomai light cubes moving through the woods... the marshmallow stick & instruments phasing in and out. Now if you had made the song 22 minutes long... 🤔 (lol kidding) And the song was beautiful as well.

Kinda spoilers below, so be warned: I really don't know how I found about this game. Maybe I saw on some top 10 list of saw a video here on KZbin. But I always wanted to play Outer Wilds. I pre-ordered the game on Switch by the moment I saw that it was coming, but only played some days later, since I'd know it would be a ride, so obviously I'd like to appreciate it properly. I also already knew about the supernova, and of course I had some "situations" on my playthrough(s). My first one ended when I rushed through the ghost matter on Timber Hearth, even before getting in the museum lol. But discovering things little by little, and linking them all sure paid off. This is not a game about saving the world, neither saving the universe. It's a game about accepting our impending fate of doom. Nothing lasts forever, as if we would. People will come by and go on, but you time will come. As a Hearthian once said, "The future is always built on the past, even if we won't get to see it". If we keep pointing our lantern into the dark past, we won't be able to track the light at the end of the cave, our future.

It's just a simple melody. The main theme is just a few simple notes in a beautiful order, yet every single time I hear it, even before I started playing the game, it resonates in me. I feel that sense of fearless adventure that I thought I lost. When I saw the planet made entirely of water, and saw the angler fish, I almost put the game down because the fear I felt was petrifying. I'm literally Riebeck IRL, shaking in my boots as I explore the stars. His banjo in the original travelers got me hooked on the soundtrack, and the soundtrack is what originally made me want to buy this game in the first place. The emotions I feel when this simple, beautiful melody plays are indescribable. I've gone so long trying to make myself numb to avoid the pain and fear this world has to offer, but I ended up throwing away the adventure along with them. I know I'll never be the person I once was, but playing this game, hearing the wordless songs, it makes me hope to be someone better than who I was. I never expected this cute space game to get me so existential, but damn I love it. I almost don't even want to finish the game because I'm afraid of that empty feeling that comes at the end of a great game or movie. So here I am, just now landing on the quantum moon and eager to unlock its secrets. To any hatchling explorers who are like me, I believe in you. This universe is terrifying, and seemingly entropic by nature, but now I realize that fact only makes our shining existence that much more meaningful. It's the tears we shed that remind us that we are still here, and that there is still so much to be done. So much left to see. So many new faces to be introduced to. So many songs to listen to. And so, so, so many marshmallows to roast. I'll see you all in the stars.

I've been looking for this song for a very long time, and I found it with you. It is masterfully executed, like before the start of a new galaxy... In the vast expanse of space, where stars twinkle bright, Lies the universe of Outer Wilds, a realm of cosmic light. Through the endless void, our journey takes flight, A tale of exploration, in the ever-changing night. Amidst the mysteries of the cosmos, we chart our course, Exploring distant planets, with curiosity as our force. With each discovery, our understanding grows, As we unravel the secrets that the universe bestows. Through the ancient ruins and the celestial skies, We venture forth, with wonder in our eyes. Each encounter with the unknown, a chance to learn and grow, As we navigate the currents of time's endless flow. In the heart of Outer Wilds, adventure awaits, A journey of discovery, beyond the confines of fate. With courage as our compass, and friendship as our guide, We traverse the cosmos, side by side. And as we roam the stars, in search of what may be, We find that the greatest adventure lies within you and me. For in the vast expanse of space, where mysteries unfold, It's the journey itself that fills our souls with gold.

But anyway it’s gotta be some sick joke that you have to go through the anglerfish nest in Dark Bramble to get to the game’s ending, especially when you have at most 12 minutes to get in the Vessel and install the core and set the coords before the sun explodes. I ended up getting jumped by the bastard anglerfish like 3 times because I was in a hurry and underestimated the range they could hear my thrusters. Also I genuinely got stuck on the Quantum Moon puzzle for like an hour, when the solution was so easy.

Full. its an orchestra and not 5 buds around a campfire at the end of everything and the beginning of everything.
