You are thousands ahead of the wealthy expats retiring in the Philippines, as indicated by these numbers: - The average net income of expats in the Philippines ranges from $2,500 to $3,500. (social security, VA disability, retirement pension). - Most expats will tell you that with $2,500 net each month you can live very comfortably. - With $3,500 net you can have a luxurious lifestyle. (Consider that a modern high-rise luxury 1BR furnished condo in Manila or Cebu rents monthly for about ₱50,000 to ₱80,000 monthly ($850 to $1,350). - At $4,500+ net cash monthly you can literally live like a king. (Note that Philippine govt. stats indicate that appx. ₱290,000 monthly income ($5,000 USD) would put you in the top 1% of wage earners in the Philippines.) So you with $10 thousand net cash monthly, I have to wonder if your income is more than what the Philippines pays its President, the head of state. (Update, I looked it up, you do make more. The President of the Philippines is paid ₱423,000 monthly or $7,250 USD.) By the way, politicians aside, here's some data on the highest paying professions in the Philippines, in 2024: Healthcare Surgeons (Specialists) - ₱165,300.00 ($2,800 USD) monthly Aircraft Pilot / Aircraft Engineer ₱128,348.00 ($2,200 USD) monthly Lawyer ₱88,800.00 ($1,525 USD) monthly Software Engineer ₱84,506.00 ($1,448 USD) monthly

I think you could live on a low budget, just like you can travel like a backpacker and travel cheap. Personally I would not want to have a small budget and minimal lifestyle but some are ok with just hanging out. For me it’s necessary to be able to enjoy gym time, swimming, oceans, cycling and tennis. Plus of course traveling to nice resorts and island hopping. I guess it’s how you want to live and spend your time. I can’t imagine not having extra money to travel and enjoy other places either in the Philippines or around Asia?

What is public transit like there? Or do you need a license to drive those scooter bikes? I'm considering moving there. But it would be for about 6 months. So more of a long vacation. Also, what are some nicer beachy areas to look into? I'd love to find something right on the water. When I lived in fla, I had a beach house and waking up to the ocean every day was amazing

for 500 a month you can get a mattress out in the streets in canada , actually scratch that mattress are like 800- 4000 dollars . for 500 you can get a chair and the street for 500 the best you can do is pay someone the 500 to ask them to record you robbing a store so you get sent to jai8l with free bed and meals

Hey dude, love the channel. I will be permanently relocating from Chicago to Cebu in 2 years. Can't wait! My longtime girlfriend is Filipino, been in the states most her life. But we are looking forward to spending our middle aged and up years in the heat, the water, and traveling throughout Asia. Good stuff though man, really like your channel

Boy, I have been living in the wrong country all my life.!!! Looks far better for the price than anything in the U.S. Just the Association Fees and Property Tax on my tiny paid for condo west of chicago cost more than the full rent there. U.S. is a scam country.

I would let u rent my house there, but it's in the city. I have 2 units left. You won't like it, too modern, nightlife is so active. I live in Olongapo City, Zambales, where I used to work as a civilian in the Subic US Naval Supply Depot. & its just 5 min away via tricyle. It's now converted to a tourist spot. And school for pilots.😢

Wondering how long wife and I can stay in Bohol? Both U.S. citizens but she's Filipina/Visayan. Easy to fly in/out to renew stay (Thailand). We love both countries but it's been awhile. We are both seniors.

Bro 500-600/month is a steal, when is the last time you have been back to the U.S.? McDonalds workers are making 500/week. You better not go cheap and get a community kitchen. The kitchen can be a germy, bacteria filled area, everybody should strive to have their own kitchen.

$250-$350 USD would be a perfect price for me. I’m still living in the states in NY and still only pay $850 for a 3bdrm so I would be looking for a significant price reduction when living abroad

I think there are much better deals on Airbnb -- most definitely feels more homey -- with a pool exclusive for the residents. Of all the places you checked out, I think the cheapest one (14k) can get you through. Long as the option to cook is in place, plus the pool -- you'll be fine! -- there's no need to settle for those high rates. But then understandably, most of 'em are inside resorts -- the reason why they could raise their prices (hopefully would ba at par with living standards and what have you lol).
