I think this statement is a bit dumb. In any country you won’t find the actual “culture” in the business districts like BGC. Poverty and culture is found in more rural areas. There are areas too, particularly the rich areas like Dasmariñas that aren't too populated. Merry Christmas btw :)

A Manila trip at this time of your could only have been because you're likely to fly out of the country which has been usual for vloggers and indeed you were =D A most deserved break for sure, if there ever is one, @travelescapesOFFICIAL Jonathan. True, you did not have to feature this particular area of Metro Manila as others have, but it's still great to see your impressions of it especially after having travelled to some of the most interesting areas, quite literally "around the Philippines" not all Filipinos have been to, albeit in the VIsayas area (make that: ESPECIALLY in the Visayas islands). Anyhow, yes indeed, the "dream" most FIlipinos have is not always abroad but to work in the NCR-end up either in the rest of the big city or upscale places like the BGC, hence the many Visayas/Mindanao Pinoys you met and wiill meet. The payscale is incomparable to working overseas, of course, but Luzom is always closer to "home" than abroad ü Happy Holiday to you and yours, Jonathan! I do agree that BGC is very different from other areas of the Philippines, but i don't think that makes it any less Filipino or "real". The Philippines changes depending on where you go. The islands & beaches you've been to are obviously different from the back streets of the poorer parts of the city, and those are different from the mountains and rice terraces of the north and the thick jungles of the south. Even culture-wise, things change. Different parts of the Philippines have some similarities, but the cultures are more different than you think. Even the way that people are friendly is different. And of course theres also the many different languages around the country. I think all of that is "real" and Filipino, even though they can get so different that its like you're in a different country. The Philippines is diverse; it's way WAY more than just islands and beaches like the stereotypes suggests. Of course there's a lot of islands and beaches, and the locals are friendly and all that, but that's not all there is to it. That's only a small part of everything that the Philippines is.

Theres cool rice terraces and unique flora there, and its also one of the few areas in the Philippines that survived spanish colonization, so the culture is also much closer to the original pre colonial culture if you're curious about that. And of course theres a lot of cool mountain views. Also this time of year is a nice time to get away from the heat by going on a trip there. Baguio city often goes to around 10 degrees during this time of year. For quick visit to the 'traditional' neighborhood, go to an area behind Grand Hyatt Hotel called "Butas" and you can get your street food fix!

Ok, i tried Buffalo wild wings in the US and to tell you frankly i’m happy with the Cebu style unlimited wings for 230pesos about 5bucks. IMO( in my opinion)

I'm sure it has to do with what you grow up with... in high school my friends and I would meet at buffalo Wild wings every Tuesday for 25 cent wing night... It's nostalgic for me!

Great video. For me.......your experience in the province is the life. The city holds nothing for my taste. And I know you are going to think I am completely off my rocker....but Buffalo Wild Wings is just processed poison to me.

😂 as I was just responding to someone else... I'd meet my friends there every Tuesday for 25 cent wing night in high school... It's a nostalgic place for me... honestly, it seems 90% of the food in the US is processed poison unfortunately.. and I agree with the province life experiences! Thank you for watching!

You should have visited BONIFACIO HIGH STREET, it has a vibrant, Western-Eastern/European vibe in there!!!

Some elevator are lock on some floors. They do that so they can make some elavator exclusive to some floors. Example elavator1 only serves 1-10 and elavator2 only serves elevator 11-20. It should be posted on the ground floor. They do that usually to tall office buildings.
@travelescapesOFFICIAL9 ай бұрын
Yeah this one I needed to transfer over to the other elevator.. there were two sets like you said

Philippines is up to date with fashion, trends and cuisine. A lot of foreigners cannot believe that the country is modern specially if you’re talking about BGC which is very cosmopolitan. You should go back and spend more time in Manila !

Greetings from South Florida, USA! Love your Travel Vlogs about the Philippines but for Local/Pinoy eats, Max's Fried Chicken, Jollibee, Chow King, Red Ribbon, Mary Grace AND Wildflour Cafe are your best bets for Pilipino fastfood, cafes and restaurants when in Manila or any other big cities like General Santos City, Davao City, Cagayan De Oro, Ilo-Ilo, Cebu, San Fernando and Angeles City, Pampanga, Bagiuo and Manila. It's awesome to see Americans and Foreigners explore our Motherland, the 7,600 Islands of the Philippines where local foods, vegetables and esp tropical fruits are in abundance and cheap. Keep up with your Philippines travel vlogs and Kudos to you Jonathan for a job well done! SAFE travels always and God Bless all of your journeys.

Also, im glad you enjoyed it, and i subscribe ❤. I wanna see more of your videos 😊. Also, if you go back to Alabama and miss filipino food, visit San Diego or LA, CA. Lots of delicious Filipino restaurants as well...

I would say, this is still a representation of the Philippines. That's the story of the country - vast gap in the standard of living between the rich and the poor. So you will find really cosmopolitan cities in Metro Manila that offers most resto chains in the US, and then there is the other side, which is the provincial life.
@travelescapesOFFICIAL9 ай бұрын
Yes true, but I was referring to how I didn’t see the traditional Filipino culture there as I’ve seen in other areas. This area was more of a mixture of other cultures

You need more time in Manila to explore BGC, Makati etc areas. Lots of good food (international cuisine) you can find anything. Will be nice to go to Filipino restaurants too esp Barbara’s in Old Manila area they have a cultural show in the evening while you dine. Lots of Americans are very at home in BGC esp bec of the food and the conveniences in BGC. If you are back in the Philippines early in the year, there are a lot of festivals to go to starting Sinulog in Cebu. Happy New Year Jonathan 🥳🎉🎊 Looking forward to your vlogs this year.
