I will preface this with - Kristie you are a legend - getting out there and enjoying camping and doing it solo (well with Jacko in tow anyway) is a true inspiration .... I have an RV5 that initially will be setting up solo and you have given me some great pointers to going about this alone - thank you

Hi Kristie, the first time I put my awning on my own it looked like something out of monty python. I did one pole then it fell over when I got to the other side. I couldn't help laughing. you made that look very easy.

Loved watching this video, brings back a lot of memories, especially the one about digging a trench to keep out the water when it rains. We always did this, Dad & Mum had a George Pickers 12x12 canvas tent in those days. No quick put up then all hands on deck! So you young people have it very good. Bye for now safe camping from Elaine Brisbane.

Nice review, I also like the idea of getting the additional sides and even the end panel, and connecting to the car or an awning to give you more versatile space. With transporting, may I suggest you put the RV3 tent on the racks first, then strap it down, but double the straps over, then lock it. Then put your other bags on top of the RV3 as it will stop those bags from sagging and rubbing on the roof. Just tie the down with some seperate tie-downs thru the handles, for extra safety. You can tie the bags to the RV3 bag, and or the Rhino bars as well to make it easier. You do a good job setting the tent and sides up on your own. Some good thinking goes into that.

Great idea just using the Velcro on the side panels . I have a RV 1 , with side and front panel as well for 15 years and still going strong . Never thought about just using the Velcro ,as the zips can be a pain in strong winds 😂 wish they made the tent bag a bit bigger though . Cheers 🍻

I did all this on a Hyundai I20 for 2 years lol, RV1 is a much better solo set up in my opinion but they discontinued the RV1 for some silly reason! I actually have not used my RV3 since I got the RV1, same weight but only 1.6 long. Fantastic Awning set up, you learn every day, wind is the RV Awning solo set up enemy but this is brilliant! thanks.

Thanks for sharing, many interesting points and considerations. Considering the RV3 plus as current Coleman instant up is starting breakdown. Tent, size & setup isn’t my concern anymore, packed size & cost are the factors that will decide. Actually cost isn’t issue, since they appear to good value over the lifetime of tent. For same cost of RV, I could go for a RTT (another entirely different debate)

Hey Kristie, Great job! Gee you are well organised and have a terrific set up process with lots of cost creature comforts! Really enjoyed your video, and I'm sure you are inspiring many people to 'get out there' and have some adventure! Just one suggestion, you might want to consider a larger hammer/mallet. Something with a larger face and with a little more weight. You'll find it so much easier to get those pegs in, especially when the ground is hard. Happy camping and thank you for the video!

I had one found it was too heavy to get up and down from the roof and getting it back into the bag absolute pain in the arse. Once it's up it's a good tent. I keep the tagalong and use that by itself, big enough for me to sleep in comfortably.

Hello 👋 The trick is to attach the fly and zip it on when the tent is laid out but not up .. Then raise the tent from the inside and it’s attached.. then leave the fly attached at all times , as in pack it up with it on .. it will fit in the bag .. many do that ..

Hello again, couple of questions 1. What's the weight limit on that roof rack!? Lol. I also just bought a Thule force xt. 2. I assume that's the companion 45l transit? Looking to buy one was wondering if it's suitable for 2 adult and 1 child, and is the cooler compartment cold enough? I researched the companion holds almost 20 cans less than others 45l fridges. Thank you!
