I've been traveling for ~30 years wearing slip on's. Far easier to take on / take off when passing through airport security and entering mosques and temples. With good traction and good support in simple styling and neutral colors (like brown or black) - this one pair serves almost all my needs -- trail hikes, city walks, churches, museums and nicer restaurants and bars in the evenings. My current pair is Merrell Jungle Moc brown nubuck, which I've worn for five years - averaging 3-4 months each year. With that, I only need to pack a lightweight pair of flip flops (Old Navy) for beach and hotel wear.

If not dressy: I travel with hokas & pack some xero-sandals or havaiana sandals.

Excellent video thank you. Excellent for demonstrating a variety of shoes for different packing scenarios, I am learning the same thing for sling bags for different scenarios. Tips for videos would be same theme things that are really not talked about much. I think a shoe video is a first for me. Travel shoes has been a major problem for me due sweat and smell. Tried everything. Good tips that I can offer I use new balance and I bring an extra insole. Also bring foot powder. I love my Vessi shoes, great for walking up to 10 miles or 6 kms, they come in lots of styles water proof is fantastic. And my latest are black and are dressy enough to wear on cruise ships. For hot weather I use water proof walking sandals TEVA, wore them for two weeks straight in Thailand. I do allot of hiking when I travel so hiking shoes are a must. I still travel with a suitcase 25lbs last trip down 10 pounds so Improving! Tips for another video might be blow up footstool and neck pillow, again different scenarios. Downside they are bulky. I have tried the blowup footstool but only works well sitting at emergency exits or seat on the bulkhead. Note not all airlines allow footstool at emergency exits. So far no problems. Going to try turtle neck pillow. Cheers Vancouver Island Canada

@@jamesburwash5635 do you use the new balance shoes for hiking?
@yeeisme2 күн бұрын
I base my footwear on hierarchy of activities. Basically if it's a hiking trip with some sight seeing I will go with a hiking shoe that is usually in a more subdued colour like a black. You can usually wear more adventure intensive shoes for less intense activities but not the other way around (also exceptionally specialized shoes like rock climbing or ballet don't count).

Great to see a One Bag shoe episode. How about a video of a full loadout for a 10 day trip in any Onebag of your choice that includes 1 pair of shoes showing worn and packed?

I used to use Asics Gel Odyssey for everything and still have a pair but use Altras more now. Altra change colors a lot but the Lone Peak 8 in black is fairly low key. Altra Olympus 6 Hike Low Gore-Tex in black is similar and waterproof which is a big advantage where I live, but GoreTex don't breathe that well and isn't comfortable on sunny days or if you are indoors for extended periods. The Gel Odyssey can handle some rain or snow and breathes better than GoreTex-shoes.

Thank you for watching and good call out! I haven’t used those but I am a fan of asics shoes!

Gel Odyssey is probably more suited for colder and/or wetter climate than where you live.

Nice video! Have you tried the Allbirds shoes? Hear a lot about them as travel shoes
@jamesburwash56354 күн бұрын
I have tried all birds, I found Vessi better, and for Americans with the exchange rate they are a bargain.
@manueldelgado53364 күн бұрын
@ interesting, could I ask some follow up questions? Why did you find them better? Are they more durable or comfortable? Wide feet or narrow? Which did you try of the brands? Sorry about the questions, just thinking about getting some for everyday/travel use and want to find the best, since return is very complicated

I'm surprised by your categories of travel shoes - they are too style oriented in my opinion, having multiple categories of sneakers for example. I think of travel shoes mostly on what walking situations would benefit from a different type of footwear. Most of the time I try to keep it down to one pair of shoe, the "walking all day" shoe. Of course there are situations where I might bring other categories of footwear. If a lot of beach time or super hot temperatures are on the itinerary, I would bring sandals. If the trip is solely to hot temperature locations, the sandals might be the only footwear I bring on the trip. If an important formal event (like a wedding) is on the itinerary, I might pack a dressier shoe (to match a more formal outfit). I told a half-truth about only taking one shoe most of the time as I usually also pack a pair of disposable slippers - for the hotel room. I throw away the slippers before flying home. I might skip the slippers if traveling to east-Asia as hotels there always provide disposable slippers.
