The government only allowed to import the bus chassis. So the chassis are usually from manufacturer like Scania, Volvo, or Hino. But the body and interior manufactured by local company. The body of the bus shown in the video is by Adiputro variant Jetbus 3+ SDD and with some Juragan99 customization.

@@NonstopEurotripThe standard version of Jetbus 3+ SDD actually has more seating on the bottom deck of the bus, and that's where Adi Putro originally put the sleeper seat. But the sleeper seat on the bottom can get pretty cramped.

Here are some reasons why Indonesians prefer trains over buses even though they are more expensive 1. Most of us don't trust the bus drivers (it's no secret how fast they can drive the bus) 2. Bus stops are far from the city centre (some big cities prohibit inter-city buses from entering city streets to reduce congestion) 3. Bus toilet are usually dirty and have limited water compared to train toilet (this is a huge point of contention especially if travelling with the elderly or toddlers) 4. You can't walk much on the bus to stretch your legs

Yeah, and because of the reason, our profit-oriented government think that they should rise the Track Access Charge to PT KAI to gain more non-taxes state revenue and it's affected to the ticket price so much that PT KAI need to rise the ticket price higher. The government already see that train is more favorable among people that people will choose train no matter how high the cost of the ticket it so instead of subsidize the railway operation they asking for profit from railway operation. I know, it's economic law that the more demand the higher price is, but transportation is the need of public and should be subsidized instead of used for gaining profit. If the government literally looking for profit from public transport, I don't think they even care of public transportation it self, let alone increasing the service of the public transport.
@Fajaradibuana
@Fajaradibuana 13 күн бұрын
@@rakandzakwan6402 You are saying that the reason from increasing TAC tariffs is to gain more profit from railway transport? Lol. Just look at the improvement of railway tracks in several areas. Revenue from TAC is used to improve and maintain the railway tracks' quality. So if you're thinking that the government increased the tariffs only to gain more profit, I don't think so. In addition to that, revenue from TAC should be earmarked to develop railways sector only. State should encourage fair competition between railway and road-based transport, therefore the State should only subsidize important train service that serves regional level (i.e. more local train service get subsidy rather than intercity train) as one of many means to promote regional growth. Therefore, I think the government is on the right track when removing Matarmaja as subsidized train service. It should be noted that increasing KAI ticket price is not only due to increasing TAC tariffs, but also fluctuating fuel price (yes, I think this one needs to be subsidized if road-based transports are subsidized), and also KAI's liability as one of KCIC consortium member....

plus intercity bus ecosystem is still quite a mess, boarding experience is a farcry compared to that of boarding trains because most bus stations are way messier than train stations...though you can board from pools, not all bus company are good or trustworthy, and that would be problems especially for those unfamiliar with bus travelling

Had lived in Indonesia during the late Suharto days and till the early Yudhoyono days and damn I was literally astounded by the fact that Indonesia having that level of well paved high ways and a luxurious long distance bus service! Back in the days, there wasn't even a thing called a highway! Even between Jakarta and Bandung! Redbus lounge actually pickup point, meanwhile the Original Bus Station just few hundred meters (and yeah it's the busiest bus station in Southeast Asia), but yeah for safety reasons waiting on Redbus lounge or Bus Operator office or Bus garage along Medaeng and Bungurasih is an excellent choice. The chassis is Scania K410IB, combining with the most popular body builder nationwide from Malang city, Adiputro. Great choice for the lunch. It's great to mentioned the Volcano along the journey.

"Bis Malam" - Noteriety and reputation much deserved. Imagine getting on a national express from Edinburgh Bus Station to Golders Green and putting all your chips on black, because God knows which bridge your bus was going to fall off. Do you fancy a plunge at Berwick or into the Tyne! In the days of old before the toll roads connecting the cities in Java, you had Pantura (north shore road) which was basically a street race between the various different AKAP (transregional buses). My safest way of driving between Jogja and Jakarta was to pop up to Semarang and hypermile tailgate behind an EKA or Rosalia Indah bus in the early hours of the morning, with them acting as a blocker. Once I got past the Cawang toll plaza, I felt like the gamble paid off, but I'd need to be eating my prayers and saying my vitamins, brother, because I'd offically be handed over from the steady surefootedness of the night riders to nutjobs comandeering Jakarta's Metro Mini fleet. And that's how I learnt to drive and think nothing of it when people complain about driving standards back home in the UK. I'm glad you managed to enjoy the luxuries and modern amenities of what Java has to offer dude!

Indonesian intercity bus is actually amazing even compared to trains. Not all cities in indonesia have trains even in Java Island where most km or the railway is located, and they also sometimes offer cheaper alternatives. In my opinion however, what makes indonesian buses aren't popular is because: 1. The 'calo' system at the central bus terminal (i dont know what is the english equivalent of it). Where people buying bus ticket at a large quantities and reselling it at a much higher price. Sometimes even straight up scamming passanger by giving them a different ticket that doesn't even reach their destination. 2. Safety reasons. A lot of stolen goods drom passanger, usually electronics like notebook, phone, or laptop.

Lovely bus indeed, even if you need to multiply the cost by 3x or more at local salaries. A sit-down meal can be had for 25-30k (£1.25-£1.50) away from tourist areas even in cities like Bandung. I took J99 bus on my way back to Jakarta, with the same seat as yours, in the video. Previously, I also took J99 (sleeper class) with only 11 passengers from Jakarta to Surabaya. By the way it’s easier to download the J99 apps to purchase a ticket.

There used to be lie flatbed buses that operated from Purwokerto to Jakarta, but it was banned several years ago. The official reasoning is "due to safety reasons", but many alleged that the rival companies who couldn't provide similar service complained to Ministry of Transportation through backdoor channel.

You have to try the Indonesian night bus, especially the Jakarta - Malang route, you will feel the authentic Indonesian bus experience I suggest one of these bus companies to try on the Jakarta - Malang route. - Mtrans - Juragan99 - Sinar Jaya - Gunung Harta - Rosalia Indah - Agra Mas - DAMRI - 27 Trans Actually there are many more but the one I recommend has a sleeper class which you might prefer to try.

@@NonstopEurotripOh great Bro, Thanks to trip in Indonesia. Bro, maybe you can try the Panoramic Train from Jakarta to Yogyakarta, Bro. In Yogyakarta you can visit the largest Buddhist temple in the world, Borobudur Temple and the most beautiful Hindu temple in the world, Prambanan Temple. Both are World Heritage buildings by UNESCO and are remnants of the high civilization of the Javanese people. Just for Your information, Cambodia was once colonized by Java under the Medang Kingdom and Crown Prince Jayawarman II was brought to Java to study. At the time of the Rebellion in Cambodia, Jayawarman II was sent in 802 AD by the Javanese King Dharanindra (Indra), who was the King of the Syailendra Dynasty whose title was Sri Sranggama Dhananjaya. In Cambodia, Jayawarman II decided to betray Java and build his own kingdom, so that the style of Angkor Wat and other buildings was heavily influenced by the style of temple buildings from Java.

My best bus journey was on a Malaysian bus from Johor Bahru up to Kuala Lumpur. Massive super comfy reclining leather seats, three abreast, with loads of legroom. Why can't we get buses like this in the UK? Instead, we're squidged into horribly narrow hard seats four abreast and no legroom.
