Fooling? No not anymore. Current govt is atleast conceptualising such infrastructure. India too is growing really well in infrastructure development in past few years. Of course such development will take time. China too took close to 15-20 years to catch up with the west. Since we have democracy, the process of acquiring land takes some time but we are on the right track now. Investments are coming in too.

@@shien7945 FUXING are newer models. All can run on the same network. China has 3 generation of high-speed trains already. First one named as CHR XXX that used a lot of foreign technologies. HEXIE (Harmoney) redesigned. The third generation is Fuxing. Because of the scale, China has the motivation and resources on upgrading the high-speed railway and train technologies and China is improving fast.

I have taken plenty of high speed trains in both China and Japan. They are comparable technically. The specs are both 1435 tracks, similar ergonomic designs, both very smooth and quiet. Speed depend more on the length of straight tracks and distance between stops. Japan’s geography is more winding and shorter distances between stops therefore they are a bit slower. Two things are better about Japan trains-the Bento lunch boxes you can buy at the stations are tasty, also sometimes Japanese trains are really empty that not only you can choose seats freely but also entire empty compartment for yourself.

I think fastest train criteria should be the speed that the train operates daily, bcoz what's the point of having a train with so much speed but can't operate at that speeds daily, it's not like hyper car that on weekends you strech it's leg to go fast ,these needs to go fast every time allowing people to commute daily & with china having long routes of HSR line their avg speed is grt than Japan. But both are amazing in their field of operation. But for me whenever I hear bullet train Japan comes in my mind.

On a busy route like Shanghai Beijing you have ~40 direct HSR trains start journey with distance similar to New Dahil Mumbai (~1500km, in 4-6 hrs) only count one direction.
