I wish I could have learned basic Polish before my grandmother passed. It always sounded intimidating to learn as a child. My church in Pennsylvania had 100 or so people that could speak Polish before they passed on .

I once heard a Scotsman speaking English and was convinced that he was a Pole pretending to be English, because of the way he pronounced the 'R.' That's why I always thought that, of all English-speaking people, a Scotsman would have the easiest time learning Polish.

As Polish word endings have become a honeytrap to me I heard with puzzlement you say "wszystkiego". Please can you explain the grammar regarding how wszystko meaning everything has annoyingly changed into this new word? ( I know about ego from your previous video regarding genitive adjectives but not ego for genitive nouns.) Djiekuje bardzo...)
@polishwithblondes3 ай бұрын
Cześć, dzięki za Twoje pytanie :) The reason is that 'wszystko' is actual a pronoun, so it takes typical pronoun/adjective endings. 'Życzę Ci...' (I wish you) is followed by the genitive case - hence we say 'Życzę Ci wszystkiego najlepszego' or to shorten it, just 'Wszystkiego najlepszego'
@davidwright72053 ай бұрын
@@polishwithblondes Djiekuje. tak ,oczywiscie, korekta , wszystk is a pronoun, not a noun. Now I agree it takes the genitive case . Wouldn't " zycze ci" (I wish you) take the accusative case, however (unless it is one of those special exception verbs that takes the genitive) ?
@alichinoalichino22832 ай бұрын
@@davidwright7205 It is one of those exception verbs. It will always take a genitive: Życzę Ci zdrowia (N. zdrowie), samochodu (N. samochód), pięknej żony (N. piękna żona) etc.
