I'm Indonesian, but I'm really shocked by the price of food there. everything is expensive. What was even more surprising was that the price of bakwan was Rp. 35,000. Jakarta is famous for being expensive, all the food there is expensive. Maybe it's because it's a big city. I usually spend money on food, only Rp. 50,000. in my city food prices are still cheap. gado-gado 15,000, bakwan 1 pc 1,000 if the big one Rp. 2,000- 3,000/pc.

The price of gado-gado sold on the street in Jakarta is also Rp. 15,000 & fried food Rp. 1,500 except in malls or restaurants. In the mall, 1 piece of bakwan costs between Rp. 5,000 - 6,000 Bakwan food is inspired by China, namely from the word 'bak' which means meat & 'wan' is a ball. But in Indonesia the ingredients have been replaced with flour & vegetables such as carrots bean sprouts because meat is relatively expensive. Bakwan only became famous after being sold by street vendors in Jakarta. Bakwan is not a typical Kalimantan culinary food

Actually Gado-Gado is Salad in Indonesia. Dressing is Peanut sauce (peanut, chili, brown sugar, shrimp paste, tamarind, salt) 40K is expensive i think. Indonesia has many different Salat, in Surabaya call it Rujak Cingur mix vegetables, fruits & nose of cow.. yes nose. Rawon is a beef soup with Kluwak (that's make a soup being dark), the red paste you tried on the gado-gado is Sambal. 40K maybe now common price in Jakarta but in my place bit expensive, Gado-gado in my place is 15K use Egg, maybe cause you with chicken so became expensive 😊 Bakwan 35K? Wow.. not meat in there? Like shrimp? Usually Bakwan has shrimp inside or up the surface of Bakwan. Well enjoy Jakarta.

The dressing not using shrimp paste but Petis. Not my type of food, but some lile it. Then try Soto Balap. If you have enough time go to mount Bromo, then Tumpak Sewu waterfalls. I feel sorry that Seblak makes your face turn red. If you have a chance to try Seblak again, please ask the seller for only give you level 1. It has 5 levels, level 1 is for not spicy at all and level 5 makes your tongue feel numb. For Nasi Padang, I think the seller marked up the price. because in the list of the menu, we can see "Serba 15000" means, all the food is only for 15000 rupiahs. either you choose rendang or chicken or others. but if you want extra pieces of rendang or chicken or others, I think you should pay 8-10k for each. so you just pay around 23-25k rupiahs. that's not unfair for foreign people like you I think haha. I suggest you to try famous Nasi Padang in Jakarta area, Pagi Sore Restaurant. but yess, little bit pricey. Ahh forgot to say, we cab get Gado-Gado only for 15k rupiahs if only you don't go to the event mall like in your video. I'm happy if you ask me about culinary or street food when you visit Jakarta again, someday.
