Today is a sad occasion as we morn the loss of our beloved 39th President of the United States of America, James (Jimmy) Earl Carter Jr. I followed his campaign and Presidency when I was a child, as he was 'common folk' which gave me a sense of what a Presidential candid should be when elected by the people, for the people. His hand worked in the fields and his callus were testimony of building a living from the dirt and learning to appreciate those who worked just as hard as you did. In return, he was scoffed, critiqued and criticized for being from po dunk Plains, Georgia. Defying the notion that those from the southern country are uneducated, slow to understand diplomacy and soft on politics. But, often, hindsight teaches us that what we thought we knew growing up, listening to others biased opinions may not be all that it's cracked up to be. For those, I implore you to get out, visit Presidential Centers across this nation and re-educate yourselves on what it really takes to make a President in our wonderful nation, as we so enjoy the fruits of their labor. Jimmy Carter is now entered into history, as one of the most prolific Presidents, not only for his efforts while in the white house, but his humanitarian work until he could not longer function as such. I tip my hat, and salute one of the greatest Presidents we will ever know in our lifetime. Farewell Jimmy, we'll take it from here, Sir!
