The gentleman who passed did so knowing there are kind and helpful people on the canals. Well done, my friend. May he rest in peace and rise in glory. And may the canals in heaven be deep, wide and all have dry towpaths!

Kevin, thank you for taking me along for this particular cruise. You’ve reminded me of the impact of what we eat on our minds as well as our bodies. You’ve reminded me of the importance of life, how to care about those who just join your life for a short time, and how to carry on while you honor them. See you next time.

It’s remarkable how profound something like this can hit you. Your brief encounter but meaningful. You had been kind to him. Life is so fragile and the kindness shown puts a sort of exclamation point on it. How we need to be this way always.

I saw Rick on that fateful day, he dropped off our coal supply for the month. I often travelled to Alvecote Marina to collect supplies from Rick (his base) there too. He was just getting over a shoulder injury and was so elated to be back on his supply boat again. We were just as shocked as you were when we heard the news. Rick was a legend, an absolute gent. I remember having to wait almost an hour for Rick one afternoon, it didn’t matter. He was worth waiting for. Incidentally my car is featured in your video, twice in fact …

Your good heart shone through this episode CHG! Very nice tribute to your fallen boater! He, like you, lived his life as he wished. Your obvious joy and sense of wonder cruising the waterways was something I'm sure he shared with you. Thanks for sharing it with us out here, who can only experince it vicariously by living it through you. See you next week!

That was so heartbreaking to hear about Rick Cooper. I was tearing up along with you. Two ships that passed in the night really were for him, his last night. There's some kind of a message in that. It's nice that the two of you touched each other's lives for one more warm encounter.❤

Hi Kevin 😀 ive been watching TBN on Amazon since the start, I was going through really bad depression and came across your show on amazon as I was looking for something different to take away how I felt a little, well I haven't looked back since, it really gave me escapism and I related with what you were doing and saying, I've watched every episode of every season and than I thought oh no now what am I going to do ☹️then I thought I know I'll watch them all again from the beginning 😊which I have done 3 or 4 times now, and I've bought a t-shirt and mug from your website 😀 Kevin you really helped me tremendously with your TBN program and I just want to say a big thank you Kevin and I hope Amazon never take down the videos as I won't be able to watch them anymore, I never get bored watching them and love watching the new episodes, it really helps me get through the day even just for that half hour or so, thank you Kevin and Aslan and hopefully many more seasons to come 😀 best program on tv without a doubt 😀 thanks for reading, from Steve

The fox was there perhaps as a juxposition. It's death was a frightening exhausting struggle. Poor thing. But the boat driver was content and robust. And laid down for his nights rest. He died well. No suffering. No fear or dread or self doubts. A blessing. Just my perspective.

Despite your sugar hangover, an amazing cruise. People often die suddenly and unexpectedly and it is unsettling. If anything it should reassure you that you’ve chosen the right path following your heart and choosing a less materialistic life. In the end, we’re all dust, and we can’t bring it with us. What matters is our relationships and how we made people feel. You my friend, give a lot (probably without knowing it) to a lot of people. So for that, thank you.❤

His name is Countryhouse Gent, Travelling on a narrowboat so quaint, Through winding canals he makes his way, Enjoying the beauty of each passing day. With a heart full of adventure and a soul so free, He journeys on, his spirit wild and carefree, The gentle lapping of water his constant friend, As he travels on, his journey has no end. From sleepy towns to bustling cities, He marvels at the sights and sounds so pretty, The rustling of leaves and the chirping of birds, Nature's symphony is the sweetest of words. And so he sails on, with a smile on his face, Embracing the journey with grace and grace, Countryhouse Gent, a wanderer at heart, On his narrowboat, he makes a brand new start.

I’m sure that’s the same gent we bought diesel from a year or so back, lovely guy. Make the most of what you have, recently having a retinal detachment out of the blue makes you realise how quickly life can change. Hoping I’ll still be able to steer a boat with potentially only one good eye! Good luck with the Ashby - we tried it when levels were a bit on the low-side and gave up (27” draft), eagerly awaiting next episode to see how you do 😉

Hi Kevin, I guess you won’t be in a hurry to have Sticky Toffee Pudding again! I’m sorry to hear of that gentleman’s passing. Sudden death can hit very hard as I well know. On a brighter note, I agree with you, it’s much nicer when you get into the more rural countryside. Some of the views on that stretch of the canal were quite unsightly. Look forward to your next episode. Have a happy Easter. Mind that sugar! Love from Connie. 😮

Howdy Kev! Well it looks like we have more in common that Aldis. Around 8:33 in Atherstone, Jolly Ol' or so you're passing by a large brick building with a buhzillion windows...some of them broken out. Well, if you visit Anniston, Alabama I can show you a couple of buildings that could be long lost brothers. Anniston was a 'company town'....kinda rare, really, which sprang up in 1874. A fellow by the name of Noble rode into town on a horse, cut down a pine forest on top of a hill and established the working town of Anniston. He actually owned it, you see. Along with a goodly deposit of iron ore he had all the makings of a steel town. So happens Anniston is 3 miles from Oxford and 60 miles from Birmingham. (Get the drift here?).... Well, the country had a series of stock market failures and though Anniston produced the wheels for rolling stock (train cars)....it just really never took off... so in a few years the town went public, and it no longer belonged to Noble. Early in the last century, though the area was still producing pig iron etc.....the rage became cotton mills. The buildings here that look like those there were cotton mills. (I'll bet there are mill villages there same as here.) Had to have been the same designer. Uncanny! I always assumed the owners were yankees from NY. Mebbe I was wrong a little by 4000 miles? All the cotton stuff ended when all of our industry went to chiner....Only the buildings are left....and boy, do they look the same! I remember when they were running. I also remember the mill villages....all those shacks are long gone. We had people here who lived and died in those buildings. Many prospered....some faded with brown lung. Seeing that building as you were passing reminded me of all that. How about that?! Your bestest fans in Alabam, Norm and Vicky

It is funny that you describe how you were feeling as a hangover. Last week I commented to my daughter that I felt like that. Neither way is easy for the grieving family, but I think to die suddenly after a life well lived is much better. P.S.
