It’s not a lack of rain that is affecting the level of the Mekong so much as the Chinese dams upstream that block the water flow. A year or two ago, the Mekong was really low and there were droughts in northern Thailand and Laos but, despite above average rainfall in China, they did not release any more water downstream. It’s an issue, and more dams are being planned......🤷♀️😢
@TravelsonToast3 жыл бұрын
Such a shame! Thank you for sharing this with us, we've seen floods when driving near these dams before but of course they can also have the opposite effect.. not good for the people

For information, when France and the Rattanakosin Kingdom (Thailand today) divided the Lao lands between themself, they agreed that the river current will be the border unconditionally to the place and the time wherein the deepest channel bed is the crossing line and, the most important, all the islands on the river will belong to the Kingdom of Laos. P.S.: Later, the French managed to pull out two Lao historic lands , Xayaburi and Champasak. That's why today Laos has two regions in the West side of the river.

That’s a nice route. Reminds me of my uncle’s neighborhood in BanHai. They have the NahmGuem. Very rural/local/natural..so it is what it is: bumpy dirt roads. I like it for the roller coaster effect.

You guys are just too cute. We love watching your videos. You haven’t had many lately and we were getting worried! We enjoyed this one. We actually got to watch the sunset, with Beer Lao in hand, at that big place you drove by called “Moon the Night”... and that was our last trip to Laos in 2007. Seeing it again tonight brought back great memories, so thank YOU for that!! More videos please... we love them all. : )

Haha awesome! We try our best to make videos, but sometimes we don't feel inspired because we are stuck in the city and want to explore other places! Once we get time off work we will be going on some road trips and making plenty more content!

Guys! Just stumbled across your channel - I was feeling a bit rubbish in lockdown here in Scotland. I traveled in SE Asia about 10 years ago and had the most amazing time. I would really love to go back but, in the meantime, you have cheered me up and I think you’re videos are just brilliant. Please keep posting and enjoying yourselves in such an amazing place. J xx

Hello, I am a Lao-Australian that also got stuck in Laos last year from March to November after what was meant to be a 3 week holiday. I always watch your videos as it brings back memories and gives me that sense of connection - oh and you guys are cool too haha, of course you are otherwise I wouldn't watch! Anyways, to answer your question if asking to Like or Subscribe is annoying, I don't think it is. It is the norm in content creator videos and you are not sitting next to us physically making us do it lol. Why I personally don't, is because I don't want the KZbin algorithm to narrow down what I watch and what videos comes up on my feed and I still want to receive a lot of varied content. I could be wrong, but it just makes me feel better. Good luck! Sok di!
@TravelsonToast3 жыл бұрын
Haha that's how everyone's lockdown story begins 😂 only meant to be here for a week or two and 8 months later... Thanks for the feedback! But the way that KZbin algorithms work or social media in general is they will be narrowing down what you watch or see based on what you click on/how long you watch something for etc anyway, I don't think subscribing or liking will make much difference, It just adds us to your subscriptions tab so you can easily find the content creators that you watch often 👍 thanks for watching our videos 🙏

You're not wearing your usual t-shirt and shorts. Is it cold in Vientiane? I do agree with you. They should finish all the constructions instead of running away from it like they're afraid of it.
