HS-TKB is way older than I thought. It's one of the first 777s. I bet it has either a really old or non functional IFE, just a huge screen for each section, or just no IFE. A6-EBW which I flew on about a month ago *takeoff ~2am Dubai time* on Flight 384 had a really old and glitchy IFE. The front camera was the only one working. We crossed paths with some 777s maybe and another 787, and when I arrived about 5 weeks later I saw a C-17 over a cafe. The engines were noisy. I couldn't film the flight and I lost a tablet on it. Sadly, the flight attendants couldn't find it. I'm moving back to Orlando via EK220/221 and yes, 384/385. Suvarnabhumi to Dubai to Orlando.

As much as I love GE engines. RR engines are what I grew up with. Cuz for some reason, the airline I flew on only put RR on their planes, beside thing like 777-300ER which only run on GE-90 specifically. Their B787, B777-200ER, B777-300, A330-300, B747-400 all used RR engines. (Also A350, but RR XWB is the only option for A350 anyway) And I used to fly on them so often that RR engines noise just make me feel nostalgic. (Beside B787 and A350, cuz these are new)

Loved the first pair The second one looked like the engine was going to snap off. The third one was okay. The fourth ones had a deep bass sound. The exhaust was something I didn’t expect to see from this particular pair. Although I have seen this done before during take-off. Fifth one was awesome! It kinda sounded like a tornado siren at a reduced volume. The sixth one was amazing! Sounded kinda like a race car! You can really hear the Eb, which was eventually lowered a half step to a D! Number seven was a nice quiet sound! I liked number eight. Again, kinda had that combination of a race car and a tornado siren. Number nine had that deep bass on an Eb. I would say that 1 and 7 were tied at 1st place for me. They both seemed very smooth, although the 7th one was definitely the quiet one. The very first pair were louder, but again, smooth and pleasant.

But if you really want a superb sound. I just love the RB-211 on the 747's and its a sound of comfort from take off to landing. I am a retired 747 AAPP mechanic of 40 years experience and these engines I worked on as well as the 757, 777's The Trent 500 is similar to the RB-211 but not as loud and its a steady sound as well. If you ever own a plane get the RB-211 PP and if not get the 757 PP (power plants)/. These are the two best for me, but the greatest sound is those 707 JT engines back in the 60's and early 70's. Gawd I miss the sound of those JT's nice and fucking loud even on the Tarmac.
