I so enjoy places like this but you sure start feeling old when you see things in a museum you used to use and vehicles you once owned. 😅 I still enjoy seeing how times have changed by the items on display. This place looked beautifully maintained. Safe travels dear! GOD bless

I visited this museum some 20 years ago with my family, there is almost too much to see in one day, it's amazing, would still love to come back. I remember begging my mom to buy me a village pioneer ring, she did. Soon after, my awesome aunt, visiting from California, came back home to see us in Kansas and family home in Okla. She loved the ring and I traded it for a mood ring she had with her 😅

I'm a lifelong Nebraskan, living in Lincoln. Pioneer Village in Minden is truly an amazing one-of-a-kind gem! I love museums and all things historical, and at age 56 now, Pioneer Village is my all-time favorite since the first time I visited as a child. In order to get to really see everything, it does take an entire day. I try to go once every few years. Thank you for highlighting this must-see treasure of a place!

Spent an entire day there a few years back and also checked out the time warp hotel and restaurant. IMHO, the largest, diverse collection of Americana in one location in the US. Never found ANYPLACE that compares to the sheer volume. Plus the buildings. Nearly every “old” building was moved there from a nearby original location, with the provenance, and many items original to the church, livery, pony express, school, etc. The cars! The carriages!

Good morning Brother. Looking more & more that we need to take a road trip to places you've been. Minden's Pioneer village is one, Claremore Oklahoma & the Museums there, J.M. Davis is one that comes to mind, and closer to home is Red Oak 2 & Precious Moments. As grandparents it's important that we show our grandchildren these places in person so that they can support them into their futures. Great job, enjoyed it.

A Harold Warp story told by my father. Harold Warp owned a piece of farmground about 30 miles west and a little south of Minden, by the very small town of Atlanta, NE. Come WW2, the government wanted that land for a POW camp (part of a string of POW camps in Nebraska). Mr. Warp said fine, I'll sell the land (no choice, actually) but he wanted to harvest the wheat crop 1st. Government said no, we want it right away. After the transaction, the government needed to clear the land, so they hired Mr. Warp, who proceeded to harvest the wheat crop and sell it. My dad's high school senior prom was at the POW camp's social hall, and my dad drove prisoners in a farm truck to various farms to work as laborers (permitted by the Geneva Convention). When the POWs found out, after an incredibly long train ride to the camp, that they were only in the middle of the U.S., they abandoned any thoughts of escape.

Was there a billboard that said Christmas City in there? I wonder what that is all about. I think my favorite part of that museum would be the wing full of cars. It looks like you get your monies worth if its as big as you say it is. Thanks for showing it off.

We've visited Pioneer Village several times over the years but I think the last was over twenty years ago now. It looks like they've made some improvements to some of the displays since were there last. There were no panels to keep you from touching things as in the long building full of cars. A lot of those cars had pans under them to catch the leaking fluids or oil dry on the floor to soak up whatever got on the floor. It looked like whenever they got a car they just drove it in and parked it.
