Tamil people retain their culture. Their traditions according to Hinduism. In the Sinhala community,they absorb anything and everything that comes from the West. Even in the U.K. ,the USA,France etc where the Hindu religion exist, they manage to keep their traditions. Sinhala people are just “” sankara”” . I personally think Sinhala people enjoy life more. Singing,dancing, taking part in sports activities, they celebrate vesak, deepavali, Christmas, almost every function in SL.🎉🎉🎉 It’s nice to see, people in Jaffna have a chance to relax and enjoy life. As a Sinhalese what I agree with you is that most SL channels promote dancing, singing, superstar contests, celebrity gossip programmes, unnecessary youtube channels, beauty contests, where youth was ultimately addicted to this "sankara" environment while blaming politicians (main culprits) and even buddhist monks and main religion become a showcase where all socio-cultural values goes to bad to worst levels day by day where these kinds of foreign investments by SL expatriates have given very little publicity and promotion. That the main reason for down fall of SL.
