Hi Chris! The motorcycle taxi guy asked the tuk-tuk driver how much you offered him to go to Wat Pho. Fyi...the lizard you saw in the water that you called a "dragon" is a Monitor Lizard. There are a bunch of them living at Lumpini Park. They are normally harmless unless you mess with them. Monitor lizards are more likely to whip you with their tail than bite you.

Visiting the Paknam Phasi Charoen Temple by land is also pretty amazing :) the Buddha is impressively huge! If you head down that area, I would also recommend checking out the bang khae region overall :) there’s also a pretty amazing mall, different to all the luxurious malls (such as icon Siam). We also uploaded a VLOG about it on our channel, if interested :)

But I am your anti-tourist type of person where I would not do Khao San Road and all that jazz. Just not for me. I think Thonburi (one of old capitals) is more interesting and less expensive.

My first impression of Bangkok, was back in 2010. At this time, it was crazy in some places in Bangkok. There where demonstrations, they even fortified some districts and the Military got involved. Still, I never felt unsafe there. Now, 14 Years later, I will return to Bangkok. So, Thank you for your content, always nice to have a little insight before returning!

The Chi river is the longest in Thailand. It's about twice as long as the Chao Phraya. The lizard you saw is a water monitor, not a komodo dragon. Komodo dragons are much bigger. A lot of people confuse the two. They're from the same family of lizards.

The big big buddha is 69 meters tall and 40 meters wide. Try to visit dhammakaya temple in pathum thani. You will be amazed. I can arrange a guide for you there.
