The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) is a multi-purpose irrigation project on the Godavari River in Kaleshwaram, Bhupalpally, Telangana, India. Currently the world's largest multi-stage lift irrigation project, its farthest upstream influence is at the confluence of the Pranhita and Godavari rivers. The Pranahita River is itself a confluence of various smaller tributaries including the Wardha, Painganga, and Wainganga rivers which combine to form the seventh-largest drainage basin on the subcontinent, with an estimated annual discharge of more than 6,427,900 acre-feet (7,930 cubic hectometres) or 280 TMC. It remains untapped as its course is principally through dense forests and other ecologically sensitive zones such as wildlife sanctuaries.

Sadly the Mallanna Sagar is a failure project. It has capacity of 50TMC but so far not even 20TMC has been stored in this. Yes, new peojects will not have full capacity from the beginning only but it can never hold 50 TMC. The seismic studies show it can cause catastrophe and dam break analysis which is available in internet alsoshow what will happen if the dam overflows/ The whole area would be flooded till godavari. Bringing 50 TMC itself is huge task even neglecting the cost it makes no sense this project can never hold 50 TMC.

Great video! Maybe in future a solar farm can be built over the reservoir which can serve dual purpose of providing power as well as preventing evaporation of water. Also it can serve as a tourist spot if more beautification work is done and generate revenue to the govt. Who told do u know what is the maintain cost? Power bill itself 25k crores and other cost 30k crore total one state budget only for one project, dont u think othet countries dont have money why they are not taking lift?any project should with water flow not opposite

@@nandhannandhan8155 it's about 6k to 7k vra..Not 25k or 30k..Will utilize that power in 90 wotking days only..Plz tell any alternative project plan for telangaana other than this project.plz suggest other plan..This plan approved by CWC and NABARD and NGT...2018-2019 chennai faced too much water crisis ..They struggled too much for only 1 TMC ..By this we can give project 30 TMC drinking water for HYD city and 10TMC for villages under this project..16 TMC for industrial purpose..Not only irrigation but also drinking and industrial use.

Most underrated project in India. Mallana sagar is the imp link channel in Kaleshwaram project. As a local i can understand the political issues created by opposition parties to stop the project for their political mileage. This reservoir will be the source for Hyd drinking needs.

It is multi stage lift irrigation project. The project has pump houses at various altitude levels ranging from 100- 500 meters. So, the electricity cost would be more depending on from where you want to pump the water. If there are water in the reservoir at 100 meter altitude due to good rainfall then there is no need to pump water from river which is 500 meters down. So, kaleshwaram project is back up plan to escape the disasters like severe drought. Yes, solar electricity would definitely help the project and it can be adapted in the future. People who are saying that its an expensive project are the people who save money in the bank instead of investing in our future. This is a much needed investment for our better future and the project can be made much more efficient through clean energy solutions in future.
