Here are some questions I'd love to have answers to: 1. how do you deal with the income gap between yourself and the rest of Bali? 2. What's your biggest concern(s) for the 'things' you left behind in your home country? 3. In which ways do you think you could bring real value to locals? 4. Would you be up to showing exactly what you do during your work day? 5. What thing you should definitely learn from locals? What have you learnt so far and how do you deal with that? 6. How do you balance work/life as a remote worker? 7. How much % of money do you save per month?

You shouldn't say on camera that you work in Bali (not online). Because Balinese people hunt (searching) such people this year and often hand them over to the authorities, because it is impossible for a tourist to work officially according to their laws..

Digital nomad for foreigners without working visas are allowed as long they are not engaged with the local companies ..
@RenegadeShepTheSpacer Жыл бұрын
This sounds like sheer paranoia. What makes you think they are breaking any laws?
@Oleg_Ya Жыл бұрын
@@RenegadeShepTheSpacer This is not paranoia, a few years ago, no one really cared about this breaking law (is it forbidden work offline for example, a photographer, etc.). There were only rare cases of deportation when a foreigner clearly took a job instead of local people, for example, if he worked as a surf coach, or in any other profession and offended a local who works the same nearby. But during the pandemic, almost all the locals lost their jobs, and they became very jealous of those who work offline on the island, even after the borders were opened, and there was a lot of work again. This is not paranoia, the locals really have chat rooms where they search for and share those foreigners who work offline, because they believe that they are taking jobs away from the locals. They can't understand that the locals can't give the same quality.. And they inform the police about such people, there were very, very many cases, especially the half year ago there was a real hunt, a lot of foreigners working offline were forced to leave the island because of this.
@ChibimokuInternational Жыл бұрын
This is true. We know of this directly. Client photography on location requires a visa, and there is a task force seeking out photographers breaking this.
@1977-i1h9 ай бұрын
@@RenegadeShepTheSpacer They are competing with the online jobs that are supposed to be meant for the people living in developing countries. They use local infrastructure yet, they're always boasting they can work without paying local taxes. They should be arrested and deported as usually they only have tourist visas despite living in those places to work.

Interesting lifestyle. I'm interested in being a nomad, but still at the beginning on my journey. One question I have is: How does a digital nomad invest into the future? Like, do you think about spending a partly income money into a depot for retirement? How does a digital nomad think about his or her future for maintaining basic essencial needs like housing, food, etc. when hitting 60 or so? Love to read an answer to that, or resources on that topic!

yes AI will make disappear a lot of digital jobs, proofreading, writing, analysis, metadata, and many others that is done in a flash by any program like chat GPT now. I think you need to have an unique expertise in an specific niche and get the help of the different natural language models to be more effective in the collection and distribution of information., because all non specific work can be easily done by the great natural language models that are getting better by the day.

Hey (I'm Jesse) this is a good question! I've considered making a video on this on my own channel, but I'm not yet sure if it matches my typical content closely enough. I still need to decide! Anyway it's a great question. It has definitely impacted the field, but hasn't yet had a very big impact on my life. I guess I'm very lucky to have a few stable long-term clients already. I don't apply for many jobs nowadays, and those I do apply to are usually quite specific to philosophy, outlining novels, or line-editing. Programs like Grammarly do a great job at catching simple punctuation erros, repeated words, syntax patterns, and so on. But they DON'T really have that "organic" or "fluid" feel an author is going for in a novel. If you listen to audiobooks and how they are narrated, you'll notice the grammar/punctuation is more of a guide to help the narrator into a flow. The focus isn't so much on technicality, more on painting a picture the listener's mind can easily follow. I guess I'm kind of lucky to work in that specific area! I think ChatGPT has affected copywriters (articles, essays, blogs, marketing) much more than me. Any essays I do are usually on quite abstract philosophy topics and ChatGPT isn't so good at those yet. It's good (very good) at summarizing, but not presenting new ideas. Anyway I am rambling too much. Idk if that's helpful to you but it might give an idea as to my experience! As far as using AI, to be honest I'm a bit behind on that. It's funny because I love AI and tech and futurism; but I haven't really integrated ChatGPT into my actual writing process. Maybe I'm old-fashioned or arrogant or too rigid to move with the times. I use it a lot for research, just to guide me to academic papers or literary works or whatever. I've found it makes errors if you prompt it too directly. Example: Why did Hegel write Sickness Unto Death? It then gives an explanation, when really Hegel didn't write Sickness Undo Death.It seems to think you are looking for a certain answer and it will give you that answer even if it's false. It doesn't do this always but does it often enough to be concerning. It reveals the true core of large language models: they train on PREexisting patterns, not true external data. This means they reinforce the content humans have already been putting out. They can probably come up with original ideas by extrapolating and choosing lower-percentage connections; but they will generally confirm the mainstream idea. So I use it a lot for research, planning, as well as some basic coding, asking it about how to use more techy software and programs that I am unfamiliar with, and so on. I hope that answer wasn't too long! Thanks for the question. There are probably lots of videos on youtube about how to use AI as a freelancer. They could probably say more than me. I may do one on Machine intelligence in general though, so stay tuned.
@learn.ai99 Жыл бұрын
@@JesseTate that was very helpful, thanks for answering. Im asking professionals these questions because i want to see if theres already a siginicifant impact on how people do their work. I cant even imagine how things will look like in 3-5 years...one thing is for sure tho, increasingly higher pace of change, which means humans will need to find ways to adapt quickly to these changes than in the past. I kinda feel like a new internet or google was invented, but now its on steroids 😄 my wish is for ai to end boring robotic routine work, and let humans do more creative work.

There are a few reasons: 1. the visa options are quite easy for most of nationalities -- you can stay long term, having to do visa runs sometimes but it is still better than other countries. 2. the cost of living is low and many people who are starting a business or becoming a digital nomad need a cheap life so they can have an easier start. 3.
