Gun shield only provides cover save for small arms fire. Not against anything with a pen value

In minute 25:00 --> When shooting small arms at spotters and forward observers placed on the table in upfront position before 1st turn set-up, all of them get a natural going down save of +1 on top of the cover save of soft or hard cover. So a 3+ cover save would have saved him 😞 - Always count as down, page 102

@28:50 You cant move the Pak 40 without a tow as it is a Heavy Artillery piece (page 124 Artillery and Movement- Run Orders). Cheapest tow you can get is Horse-Drawn Limber (10pts)
@tabletopcp3 ай бұрын
It’s a heavy AT gun. It can be moved unless it has only one guy left

@@tabletopcp read page 124, Run Orders, paragraph 2 "Heavy and Super Heavy Anti-Tank Guns (aswell as any lighter gun whose crew is reduced to a single man) cannot be moved by their crew with a run order... they can only be moved by means of a tow."

@@tabletopcpI think Donald is right actually. That rule says that heavy and super heavy can’t be moved without a tow. And that the lighter guns can’t be moved with just 1 man.

@@JoeMafro well the gun never moved, except for when it came on. You’re allowed to deploy a gun on the edge, as if there was a transport right off table.

I've notice people are not getting force selection correct,. Ie rifle platoon means you can take only ONE other platoon, you need to make another rifle platoon before you can any more platoons
@tabletopcp29 күн бұрын
Half your force is going to be officers if you do it that way. You only need one infantry platoon to unlock one of each of the other types of platoons.

I thought for every platoon like a hvy weapons platoon etc you had to field one rifle platoon. If that were so you couldnt field an artillary platoon unless you fielded another rifle platoon. Can you explain the rule to me?

One rifle platoon unlocks one of each of the other types. Check the example lists in the rule book

New guy question: if your light howitzer had been closer to your Pak40, could that crew have run over to re-crew the Pak40?
@tabletopcp3 ай бұрын
I think so. A rule we have never used as having multiple artillery on a list was not very common in v2 but it seems like a rule that will be useful now.

I haven't played a lot, but I read the V2 rules quite a bit trying to get people to play with me in Tabletop Simulator. When you're firing the mortar at the building, would it not have the chance to fall down to the next floor? Well, in this case, you're not targeting the building in the first place, considering the roof hard cover and not part of it, but it was just a thought. That and doesn't getting the reserves in require a roll? Did you do that off cam, did you forget or is it changed in V3? I could be misremembering this, has been a little while since I went through it and it was a lot to take in at once. In fact, I think I put both my friends that I got to play it off from playing it by trying too hard to follow the rules. Was some nice games though, did a Marco Polo Bridge and a more generic late war US vs Germany, playing axis both times. I tried some of your videos to learn, but honestly I've seen too many times you haven't followed them as closely as I would have liked so I just went with purely the manual in the end. As usual the manuals, however, do define things quite vaguely. At least seemingly for me, English is not my first language, though I would say I'm quite fluent. You make some good videos though, and I think that not trying to make sure things are by the rules constantly is a more enjoyable way to play it, but I just can't do it as such. First of all, it just really annoys me not to follow them, they're made like they are for a reason, although even then sometimes I agree certain elements are unnecessary, unrealistic, whatever. Second of all I want to do something properly the first couple of times, so I can remember as many of the rules without looking them up as possible for later games. Third, inconsistent enforcement of the rules can be quite unfair.

Played for the first time the other day. Bolt Action is a lot of fun and reminds me of Horus Heresy for how lethal the game can be. Cover is incredibly strong...until it isn't. A medium mortar caught my veterans while they were in some solid cover. Picked up over half the squad from a single hit. Flip side is another unit of veterans in cover survived multiple turns of MMGs and tank guns peppering their position in the woods.

These shermans could have avoided the heavy AT gun using a run (now include one 90° turn), and go fight something else
@tabletopcp3 ай бұрын
They certainly could have. Craig said he was afraid of the panzerfausts
@jonathanbirkeland10853 ай бұрын
With so much of his list being taken up by two Shermans that did almost nothing he was really playing from a disadvantage everywhere else on the board. The tanks either needed to be split up to threaten more things, or be pushed forward more aggressively. Bully forward with a tank while putting a squad of infantry behind it so they get a hard cover save. Now the defending infantry won’t be able to just keep going down over and over. Alternatively you could run double regular M4 Shermans with easily catches fire and thin sides to keep the points cheaper and use those saved points to get some additional firepower on your infantry. Maybe some engineers with a flamethrower to burn defenders out of cover.
