I wrote this song, "Dirt On My Hands," to explore my own journey of navigating dual identities as a 75% Filipino and 25% Scottish American. I've always felt caught between two worlds, but I've learned to embrace my unique heritage and share a message about the shared values between cultures. I hope this song can be an anthem of hope, identity, and pride for all listeners, especially those of the AAPI community.

Lyrics:
VERSE 1
4am starts on a weekend
Work till it’s dark, I don’t see friends
Got a stone-cold heart for a reason
Daddy wasn’t bout no games
So I learned how to swim in the deep end
And I learned how to strum with the right hand I was Midwest-bred, there’s a reason
You and I are not the same
I was built this way
CHORUS
I was born with the dirt on my hands And the hurt of a land I ain’t seen
I was raised by the sweat of their brows On this one-acre farm overseas
I’m only tryna be me
In this land of the free
And there’s so many like me
Somehow gotta believe
There’s room for someone like me
VERSE 2
‘Cause I’m just like you in a real sense
But the world still looks for the difference And I saw too much as a young kid Shouldn’t have to bear this weight
But I still got peace when it gets hard ‘member grandma cooking in the front yard If I walk alone, I won’t get far
You and I could make a change
Tryna pave a way
