This is not a rebuild, it’s a retool. Don’t be fooled by Flyers brass as this is not a rebuild. Moves like this are done by teams that are retooling.

It's a rebuild, they are building through the draft. A retool is built by changing out core pieces by trade.Michkov, York, Bonk, Brink, Foerster, Zamula, Ginning, Attard, Andrae, Frost, Luchenko, Barkley and Mcdonald are all guys the Flyers frafted recently. Briere tried to even move Sanheim but Krug blocked the deal which was rumoured to include Kyrou. Gauthier was traded but that was a special case, he didnt want to be a Flyer

I dont like it for the same reason Charlie had mentioned. He should have been moved for assets. Flyers to me dont have enough pieces. Michkov is not enough and he's still not a guaranteed superstar. Stanley Cup Winners typically have 3-5 core pieces. Chicago had Toews, Kane, Seabrool and Keith, PIT had Crosby, Malkin, Letang and Fleury\Murray, WSH had Ovi, Backstrom and Carlson. Tampa had Point, Kuch, Stamkos, Hedman and Vas. Who do the Flyers have of that Caliber? Maybe Michkov, and Maybe York. Everyone else is still an unknown. Flyers are doing things backwards. You need to have your core pieces before you build around them. Flyers have built around a core that isnt and may never be there. They are essentially putting together a puzzle that has many clear sky pieces and starting with the middle of a blue sky. Instead of working with the edge pieces and the non sky pieces first.

I like it and the right decision was made. It’s the going rate for players like him, deal with it. Edit : “This isn’t a rebuild, I don’t want to hear them say that again”… meanwhile they are literally the second youngest team in the league if the season started today behind buffalo at 26.1 average age. So yeah, it is a rebuild.

@Flyers48 If 68 points in 76 games fetches 8.7 million a year than Crosby, (who is reported to get 8.7 million a year) should get 13-15 million. I don't care if this is the direction the NHL wants to go, its not my money. Everyone is overpaid in my opinion

@@freedomliberty83 Yes prime Crosby would obviously get 13+ mil on open like McDavid got. But he signed like 7 yrs ago. How can everybody be overpaid? Then nobody is overpaid ... The cap and revenue is increasing so the player salaries do as well. The same exact thing is happening in all the other top leagues and they still make less then those other top leagues.
