I feel like a lot of people forget that fitness has a lot to do with winning at any level. Hitting the weight room is a must in a sport like judo

I know these and other videos on the channel have given me a lot of things to think about and work on when I can go back to training. I can't remember anyone explaining the higher levels to me, and if they did it wasn't as well as you do. Now I just have to practice applying it!

Great critique video, takes guts to submit a video of a loss but that's where you learn the most I suppose. I wish I had more recent videos. I believe I only have some tournament footage as a white belt a few years ago.

Travis, I like your material. First time watcher. Would you mind doing the analysis before you shoot the video? That would definitely help.
@TravisStevensgrappling4 жыл бұрын
I don't understand what you mean by do it before filming?
@ADHD_Theory4 жыл бұрын
@@TravisStevensgrappling scripting your analysis may just help the video flow more. I don't mean to be over critical. Also I watched your live stream from yesterday I enjoy how you put grappling together between the BJJ, Judo and Wrestling. That kinda material would be awesome.
@TravisStevensgrappling4 жыл бұрын
I'm still not sure what you mean. I don't know what you mean by script an analysis.. It can't tell them what to send in or what to do wrong. It's an authentic view of me watching and talking about what I see.

Coach Travis, At 4:10 it looks like Christian shoots a double leg takedown but White manages to sprawl out. Is that where the shido came from? Also, at 6:09, you say that he should "blast a double." Wouldn't that get penalized? Or is it okay since White's knee is on the ground? (Edit: I think I've seen some of the international players do this. It's because it's already in ne-waza, correct?) Also, aren't the refs supposed stop the action immediately when a player touches the leg (the first time at 4:10)? It would seem unfair if someone grabbed the leg and won by osaekomi or shime/kansetsu waza as a result of the takedown. Sorry, I'm an older grappler who "retired" long before the "no-leg-grabs" rule, so my knowledge of the rule isn't very good!
@TravisStevensgrappling4 жыл бұрын
I'm actually not 100% sure. They were on the ground in my opinion but maybe that is not the opinion of the refs. But at the same time it's a smaller competition we can't expect things to be called perfectly.

Yeah, offense offense offense. Still a white belt, but teachers at the Kodokan yell at us during randori if you look defensive or tentative. I learn much more when I'm offensive, even when getting thrown. Unfortunately, cardio gets to me all the time though...
@TravisStevensgrappling4 жыл бұрын
Even if your cardio is bad take pride in who you are and keep your head up and fight the good fight win or lose!

Back take from opponents attempted Kesa Gatame seems like a lot of wasted effort in Judo. The osaekomi wasn't called, so no danger and you dont get points for the back take...
@TravisStevensgrappling4 жыл бұрын
Step one is always get out step 2 figure out how to be offensive. Don't try to do both at the same time.
