Great instruction. Thanks. Just a heads-up to anyone out there whose A300 Ultima Patrol does NOT have a choke tube or threads to accept one (cylinder bore), you almost certainly have the LE version; look for #J32CT11LE on the box (LE stands for law enforcement). I have the LE version. From what I gather, Beretta made this version for law enforcement departments without the choke tube because cops are notorious for not maintaining their department owned firearms that usually get issued when your shift starts, then turned in again at the end of the shift, and re-issued to another on the next shift, etc. They only get cleaned once in a long while and it is guaranteed that choke tubes would get lost or otherwise go missing. Some shotgunners also make the argument that choke tubes can get chewed up by too many rifled slugs through them, although I think Beretta knows what they're doing and you'll be just fine shooting slugs with the choke tube that comes with the A300 Patrol. Also, there's a debate as to whether IC choke tubes make all that much of a difference at combat/defense shotgun distances. I personally prefer the cylinder bore - but that's just me. I can shoot some pretty tight slug patterns with my cylinder bore Rem 870 Police Magnum pump at distance and if I need tighter patterns with my buckshot, I'll shoot Federal 00 Buck with FliteControl wad. In my humble opinion if you're running a shotgun in a combat scenario, while spread/patterning counts, there are times when I want a bit of a larger spread, and besides it's really the shooter that makes the difference. I served in the Marine Corps (03 infantry) and was also a police officer on one of the largest police departments in the southeast where I served on a SWAT team. We had the freedom to use a variety of firearms for various situations and often (not always) my weapon of choice was the 12 gauge shotgun. It's such a versatile tool; from 00 buck, to slugs, to breaching rounds, to tear gas, to incendiary rounds, etc. Concluding - look, don't sweat it either way. This is a great, reliable shotgun and I'm just an old guy now who rambles and loves the shotgun as a combat/defensive weapon. I just wanted to give notice to anyone out there who doesn't have the choke tube.

Not sure how I’m going to feel if it shows up without chokes. My guess it’ll be mostly 00 and Slugs so no big deal, however, would be nice if it’s there. Guess I’ll see when it shows up.
@76bishobi8 ай бұрын
@@USMCTop13 , if it's truly the LE version, it definitely will not have a choke system. Guess you'll have to wait and see what shows up. I heard the reason LE models have no choke is so they can fire less than lethal ammo through them with no issues.

@@USMCTop13 Did your A300 Patrol have the choke tubes? My wife just told me a few hours ago that she bought me an A300 Patrol as a Birthday/Father's Day present and she ordered the shotgun today at around 1:00 PM. When I get the new shotgun sometime next week I will only going run 00 Buck and slugs through mine as I have a boatload of these rounds AND because the Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol is not a sporting clays,trap or rabbit/crow gun and I have quite a few shotguns just for those shotgun sports and hunting ... When my wife came home she was acting a little goofy so I asked her if she was sick and she replied "NO!" and 30 minutes after that she gave me the good and bad news with buying me the good news being that she bought me an A300 Patrol THE BAD NEWS concerning the A300 Patrol was that my wife ordered my present today in the color that SHE liked and the color that SHE liked is the "Limited Production" (Yeh right, whatever you say Beretta) the blue camo so she ordered MY A300 Patrol in HER favorite color, the blue camo. I wanted to cry as I am not fond of that color scheme but I couldn't and can't hardly complain about the blue camo on MY A300 when SHE is the one that is paying for it Maybe, just MAYBE I can also talk her into buying me a new red dot, sling and side saddle to put on her favorite colored A300? Nah because if SHE picked out a red dot for ME then it would probably get sent back and a big reason is because as of RIGHT NOW I have NO IDEA on which red dot is the best to get for this A300 or any shotgun and to the configuration or which red dot will, and won't allow me to use both the ghost sights or red dot

@@markej4801 It may be easier so long as the beaver tail off the back of the bolt goes into the recoil cup but for the sake of filming I had mine upside down. Great video. I don't know how welcome polite and constructive criticism is and I do know most maintenance activities shown can be done different ways, but I would recommend against using a torque wrench as a screwdriver for removing fasteners. I know the analog version of the FAT Wrench is capable of measuring reverse torque, so it can be used "lefty loosey" but removing fasteners with it is the equivalent of using a ft-lb wrench to break a fastener loose instead of a breaker bar. Obviously everyone's free to use their tools their way, but optimally (at minimum for maintaining calibration longer) a torque wrench should only be used for setting torque and arguably, reverse torque testing.

Anyone familiar with Beretta knows their manuals leave much to the imagination and their support is well...let's not go there. So a huge thank you for posting this video. I've watched it several times and it's by far the best one available for this model. I do have a question about your procedure vs the manual. In the manual they instruct you to lock the bolt back when removing and installing the barrel. In your video you skip this. Is there a reason why? And to that point, I've had a heck of a time getting the bolt back into the receiver and being able to retract it back. Even with the trigger group removed and the recoil rod properly aligned, 4 out of 5 times the bolt will only retract back about 1 inch and then lock. I take it out, put it in, repeat,... and then poof it works. But I don't know why. She's definitely a finicky Italian (well Tennessee) lady. Any additional pointers on getting the bolt in correctly?
@travisp11 Жыл бұрын
I didn't lock it back because I didn't want to risk having fling forward so I just left it towards the front of the receiver. Thanks for watching!
@bryantelker9239 Жыл бұрын
@dancrea9407, "...heck of a time getting the bolt back into the receiver and being able to retract it back...". Exact same with me, usually on the 3rd of 4th assembly, "poof, it works" me too. Weird; I just cannot figure it out. Otherwise the gun is very good, very reliable.

Just play with it and it will eventually slide all the way back. Mine kept sticking. I’ll shoot 200 rounds through it on Saturday. Super easy if you follow step by step. Took me 40 minutes. Can you provide suggestions on charging handle removal on my newly purchased Beretta A300 Patrol Shotgun.How is the charging handle configured to help me understand removing it. It feels like it's welded in or perhaps improperly installed at the factory?Appreciate your assistance as I cannot fully disassemble my gun without removing bolt.

Are you able to disassemble the shotgun to the point that the bolt handle can be removed. I think that something keeps the bolt handle locked into place until you reach a certain part of disassembly.

Why shouldn't you run the brissell brush backwards through a smooth bore? For years I cleaned guns pulling the brush back through.
@travisp11 Жыл бұрын
I think part of it is that it brings all of that carbon fouling and debris back into the reciver, the channels that the bolt rides on, the trigger pack (depending on how much disassembly you have done. I do agree though, on smooth bore it really shouldnt matter but I perfer to push all things spent out the front of the barrel.
