I also noticed that is first step and his second step hit the mat at the same time. Amazing judoka! I hope he'll go to the olympics in Tokyo

Wow, very humbling. I wonder if getting a great split ( leg split ? Sorry I am not an english speaker ) is mandatory for this technique. It seems out of my league.

Is Maruyama good example of strength and conditioning of japanese players? The casual way of getting the sweeping leg that high up with that much force, power and control ....and on top of that using his upper body as counterweight...
@TravisStevensgrappling4 жыл бұрын
Agreed!!!

Doesn’t one run the risk of a “low blow” on uke during randori?
@TravisStevensgrappling4 жыл бұрын
No because Tori's leg is straight so he throws with the thigh and hip. You only hit some one there when you cut it short and lift with the heel.

How many rep per day ? To be efficient in uchi mata ..
@TravisStevensgrappling4 жыл бұрын
It really depends on where your starting but a safe number to go with is 200-500 per day.

Super good commentary. I've always struggled trying to figure out how soon to turn and how to make the best entry. I also noticed that he approaches the wall at an angle, which makes a lot of sense in retrospect haha
