TRAWLER LIFE: What’s the right boat for you?

We’ve been asked (more than a few times) why we chose to buy trawlers as our first liveaboard boats. The time has (FINALLY) come to answer that question!
Our hope is that this video will lead you through a few of the major considerations we had before buying our first boats. This is by no means comprehensive and we could do 10 videos just to explain our own boats on their own!

We live on a trawler that can cross oceans...it is nice to not live on an angle. We have crossed the ocean on sailboats also however prefer the space of a powerboat and the big windows and brightness...like you guys.

Love trawlers. If I wasn't into the sport of sailing, I would own one. I'm curious what your fuel costs are round trip to Catalina, if you don't mind sharing.

Soooo rough estimate I’d say 15 hrs each direction plus 10ish hours of engine running while there comes out to about 40 hours of run time. fuel burn is about 2 gallons per hour (usually more like 1.5 but 2 for the sake of planning). So with diesel at about $5/gal we’re looking at maybe $400 for a 4-5 day trip when planning very conservatively
