I actually prefer the release model of having one major release with a bunch of updates over a few years, just like with e.g. Microsoft Flight Simulator. I would be fine with WRC being supported with DLC for let’s say 3 years in total until the next major release

If the core engine and game base were in a much better spot after all this time, I would agree. UE4.27 is toast, the prospect of limping along with that already way out of date and dead tech that's clearly not capable of taking advantage of current hardware for _three_ more years would be horrible. This game is simply not the one to keep bolting on to, whether you are a VR user or not. It needs a major refresh and rework, dlc content and patches will never do enough to radically change or improve the state of things here.

I have said this for a long time and finally a yearly franchise takes this route. I would have no interest in buying a new wrc game, I don't play them that much. But a reasonably priced dlc with proper content? Sure, i'm interested.

@@imperiousstout while I agree with the OP that yearly expansions are a better choice, I do agree with you in this case because of the stuff with the engine. that said, there is no way in hell they would be able to release a new game on a new engine within a year (or probably even two) anyways, so taking a year or two off and just doing DLC while working on the next game in the background is probably still the best option here.

This release model is MUCH healthier than what Codemasters has to do with F1. That being said, I would want a physics overhaul for this title. It's heavily based on the DR2 physics, and that's getting old at this point. A more natural, simulation accuracy focused handling model would make me put down more money for this title. But as is, it is not for me.

I think it’s wild how many people say “this new game is arcade compared to do DR2” They are SO similar 😂 I would love to see this improvement as well. However the game does feel quite good, and I don’t see them doing this change in particular

Having played every rally game Codemasters released since the original DiRT, I'd actually say EAWRC is the first title to *not* feel completely like another DiRT game - the overall experience is still here, but the cars don't have this specific... springiness to them that was present for over 10 years. I'd guess it's because this is their signature physics model translated into Unreal Engine, but I find it different enough to never want to play the older stuff again. It just feels better.

@@purpleneons the rear certainly is less shopping cart caster like. Tarmac is of course re-done, but imo it's not a good tarmac, you rarely know what the hell is going on. The biggest downgrade in the physics is that the engines seem to not be able to overcome the rear wheels. Very odd in slides or uphill. Everything else is pretty much the same to me as DR2

I'm a Korean WRC rally fan... I'm a console PS5 user, but honestly, EA WRC is not more advanced than Dirt 2.0 Rally, but rather, it seems to have regressed graphically or technically, so I'm really disappointed.. It's fortunate that the next DLC isn't being sold at full price...

It’s an upgrade in the length of stages, which is a big deal imo And the move to UE wasn’t a total success, and there were some problems But tbh if you play on ultra settings, the game looks amazing For the most part it’s almost exactly the same as DR2, with new stages and cars, and a move to UE so that they can continue to provide 20km stages

All I want from the upcoming DLC packs is an Escort WRC and an Octavia WRC! And with that, a lot of effort is put into making the engine sound right on both of them. I can just see the wife and kids going out for the day once the volume is turned up.😂

Given the stability in the regulations for several more seasons, doing a base game one year and then annual expansion updates makes more sense. WRC, as a sport & series, has less overall fans than F1, so it should go for strategies that maximize it's relative niche status. While a drawback would be an aging game engine, it would create a neat organic experience of the game 'growing up' with the regulations it showcases. And that's before we factor in the unknown of post-hybrid Group Rally1 cars... 😅

With a rtx 2080 and a i7 7800k, it works with a ultrawide 2k screen. Most of the time, the fps are arround 70. In a few areas like the village in Monte carlo, it drops at 45 fps. The settings are medium/high, only the mirrors are in low settings (it looks bad, but it is not so important in a rally game). There is no stutter, even online.

(VR) the windsheild is like a second screen where the reflection is like calculated and projected like a movie on the windscreen. This is why it is blurry. You see a projection over a projection , like poor special FX in very old movies.

I have a question for you what's the go with career mode like you race the first 9 stages in snow then the next Round you have to do it all over again but at 60km all the way i was literally drained after the 5th one and just skipped the rest and I cant play anything at all there so if that's what ea want i just gone back to playing dirt2 again i absolutely love the career mode in dirt2 race fix your car race again pretty simple but works perfectly fine😂

I‘d really like to get many more historic cars. For me the real fun is to experience how different cars behave and how to get the optimum performance from each on the stages. A DLC just including new cars would be great!

I hope they buff some preexisting cars like the C3 Rally 2 to more accurately reflect real world pace, and introduce new classes/revamp old ones for much needed balance tweaking like the McRae cars being way too dominant and out of place, so is the one singular 1.6 WRC in a sea of 2.0Ls with the countryman, since we'll likely be getting more 1.6 WRCs in the future, that should become a new class. Making RC1 multiclass between current and last year is an odd choice, but I think there will be filters for this, or well better be because I expect the '24 cars to be direct upgrades.

That VR blur is probably Unreals insistence on temporal techniques, which can only be "solved" by removing the temporal rendering which is put in place to fix graphical issues the engine has.

no. they started making the game and visiting locations before they got the WRC license, so the stages in several locations could not use roads used in official WRC events. this is also why Fafe is not in the game. they went to Portugal before they got the license, so they scanned a similar road nearby instead... that also had a big jump.

Create the Game with plug-ins for all the various "aspects" / "assets", so that when an upgrade is available it just replaces the old "asset". Make a longer life for the game overall with upgrades when available would be a better model for me personally. Build off a good platform with replaceability in mind and you'd be onto a winner IMHO.

Just want to point out that Dirt Rally 2.0 released with only 52 cars at launch. Then they added a further 29 through PAID DLCs bringing them to 81 cars. EAWRC came with 79 cars straight out of the box FOR FREE. Realise what you’ve got first. We’re also literally getting 5 cars with this new dlc too so I don’t know what you’re complaining about. With this we’ll now have more cars that Dirt Rally 2.0.

I have 2pcs, the worst one, is an AMD FX-8370 with 16 GB ram, and GTX 1650 Super 4GB, and it runs at pretty stable 30FPS @ 1080p on High/Ultra settings, mostly i went for textures. Slightly stutters in places but still driveable. Just need to set OFF most of the unnecessary stuff, like mirrors etc, and lower shadows to low or medium, you can get great looking textures and track and car cockpit though. Sure nowhere near as good as how DR2 runs, but its possible on this old system.

Im not a big fan of many of the modern rally games wrc10 was great as well as dr1 but its been a hard downhill since then for me. as someone while not a rally driver does hundreds of kms a month down dirt and gravel roads at well above what would be considered a safe pace. Im beamNG all the way

I've been going back to Dirt rally 1 recently a lot and I'm just stunned at the graphics and atmosphere in there. Something happened with Dirt rally 2 that the graphics went from that kind of incredible atmospheric and realistic to looking like this kind of Unreal engine demo file (although I know they didn't use Unreal for DR 2). I've never again seen the Silent hill like atmosphere that they created for example for GBR in DR1. I'm looking in disbelief at how bad this EA WRC can look 10-15 years later.

DR2 switched to PBR pipeline and has better color accuracy and lighting. DR1 also has color filters over the image like 360 era titles. I also don't think DR2 looks like Unreal at all.

4070 isnt made to play games on 4k. especially not ultra, it has not enought vram for that. its a great card, but for 1080p games. you will have the same issue on many "recent" games if you try to play similar setting.

EA overcomplicating something as simple as a yearly DLC by having 2 options. To my understanding then, the season expansion bundle is far better value as it contains everything the locations and car pack has plus four more stages.

Stuttering comes from the game loading in the shaders So if it’s the first time you’ve played a stage, you are guaranteed to get stutters. After the game has compiled the shaders, you won’t get stutters anymore But you’ll still get some stutters sometimes If you’re getting a ton then I don’t what the problem is I play a lot and rarely see any stuttering. Maybe once per like 10 hours No reason to play on low settings. A nice thing about the game is there’s little downside to putting everything at ultra, aside from a few settings that take more frames than anything else (car reflections)

@@bajeebus-j2p TREES! Did some testing last night and noticed that @4k native everything at Ultra I was at 45fps in some sections, dropped the trees down to ultra low and I was over 90fps. Even at High or medium I was still well below 60fps. Tried dropping other settings but it was only the tree setting that was tanking performance. Might have fixed the stutter too, verified the files in steam and it found 3 errors and prompted me to update the EA Anticheat again. After that the stuttering was greatly reduced! I’ve had stuttering since day one on all stages that I’ve run over and over so this is a huge win.

The real answer to your question is: No. 4090 + 14900k, and it still stutters a lot, especially when turning. No matter the settings, though I noticed DLSS makes it worse. I even reinstalled Windows once. It's just poor optimization. And unforgivable to still be like this 1 year after release.

Thanks for the video. I bought the game and then refunded it because I couldn't get my new Logitech wheel and old Logitech pedals to work together in the game. But Logitech do an adapter now so it should work I think (as the game sees 1 USB device). Might give it another look.

The game is inexpensive and has better handling on asphalt. Buying it in 2024 makes sense to me. I bought it in 2023 and lived through some hiccups. Typical EA released a half baked product. But since then it's improved and is fun. It's obvious they aren't going to update the overall quality of roadside assets - I doubt they have the budget for that. It's not the best a rally racer could be, but it's not the most popular sport. I think it's unrealistic to get Assetto Corsa, F1, or Gran Turismo level of graphics and support.

I'd be happy to pay for the extra content if I considered the base game enjoyable, but it doesn't seem like they're making any efforts to improve it, which means that I prefer the game or Dirt Rally 2.0 more: - Its AI were better - Its seasons were randomised - I could do career in the cars I enjoyed (eg H2 RWD) - It had Dailies instead of moment - I could mod out the 'forest smoke' effect As a game, I find WRC isn't one I want to play with its current feature set, which is a pity but I'm passing on new content until that changes

WRC25 definitely needs to be a major release, I fail to comprehend that a few locations is all they have accomplished in a year. If it is, that's worrying for the future of the franchise and shows the team is very small. If 25 is a new game, then I'd expect some overhauls and advancements. It's the right way to go about it and the reason they haven't packed everything into this update.

At the current price and progress EA has made on the engine, it is a steal to not buy this game. It is a F****** good game!! It is also included with Xbox Game Pass. It is a difficult game and sometimes frustratingly difficult when you ramp up the speed and then out of nowhere (missed the pace note) a nr 1 corner... ;) But it is also very satisfying when you do get that corner, when you finish your stage with a decent time. I realy love this game. Worth every Euro! And yes i would pay the extra for a good DLC. Every race game works that way.

The new content is decent, but it is unforgivable that after a year, the game is still a suttery mess (not as bad as launch, but it still is). Even on a RTX 4090. Being a game where precision control is a must, I regret buying this game for this sole reason.

No it's not and no it hasn't seasons is just a way for them to squeeze more money out of us instead of improving their original product just look at the mess they made of call of duty you can barely get through the menus there's so many season advertisements

Ok lets be honest here. Who is paying for this video? Assetto Corsa has just got a FREE new update this month that brings rally co-drivers and a gravel type model, with some very great modded rally tracks. But not a word about that yet here we are talking about EA WRC 24, a game with a 24-hour peak of 700 concurrent players. This has to be a joke right?

It wasn't a bad game at launch and I still can't comprehend how they broke it and messed the whole thing up within a year. Can't even fix single player ai.
