I noticed when you jump you let off throttle causing it to dip mid air try giving full throttle in the air to keep control other than that great video

Never run NiMH with low volt detection on, it will really shorten run time. So leave esc with red light. Get a 2s Lipo change esc to Low volt detection on- green light- and add some landing ramps to the track and see if your mind is changed.

I did that and use an old battery on the other side to balance the car. These are really good little cars, handle well and are fast with the Lipo battery.

Lipo battery w/ Teton tires = Huge difference. Will have to raise body and trim wheel wells a little. Totally worth it.

I have a track myself for my mini RC's. You might want to consider widening the lanes. (less grass to cut😉) If you where my neighbor, and I would race with you. The 4wd mini slash with the 12 turn titan is kinda weak. I have converted mine to brushless and run two batteries. Also replaced the crappy shocks. Made a world of difference.

Isnt the 2nd battery compartment so you can run it with 2 batteries using the 3063X connector?

Traxxas sells two different connectors to combine the batteries in these 1/16th cars. I've used both of them in the past with a brushless (vxl) mini revo. One connector is for longer runtime by combining the mAh (parallel, #3064X) and one is for higher speed by combining the voltages (in series, #3063X). Parallel is kind of useless, it just needlessly makes the car heavier with that second battery. In series is pretty awesome, but the vxl motor can get real hot in warm weather (but mine never broke!). There was a different (smaller I'm guessing?) pinion gear in the box that Traxxas advised to install when running batteries in series, but the original pinion gear was lots of fun because that made it go fastest. You can still convert the brushed mini slash to the vxl version by buying the correct parts, but it might be cheaper to buy a mini revo and convert that to mini slash. I haven't done the math! Anyway, a brushless mini slash is difficult to control. It just flips over every corner you make. The mini revo has a much wider wheel base and the bigger wheels handle bumps and uneven pavement much better. One downside with the mini revo is that you'll break lots of A-arms, because the wheels stick out. The mini slash is a bit more durable because the wheels are protected by the body.

The MJX hypergo 14209 is on sale for $130 right now. Is there any reason to buy this instead? Any idea how much would it cost to make this perform comparably?

The 14209 is a different truck & I have never driven it but from looking at it online, I can tell you it comes down to personal preference. The 14209 looks like a desert truck, with a different body style, similar to a Losi Lasernut. The H14BM is lower to the ground, similar to an Arrma Kraton, which helps with speed and handling sharp turns. It all comes down to the look and style you want and the type of driving style you prefer.
