Your are right. For a stadium Truck or off-road car, 30+ is pretty impressive in my opinion. But for an on road car like the Ford Gt, speed is a little more useful when running. I think if you're going to go with an on road car, definitely go brushless for more pure speed.

Dylan Brookbank true, but I’m pretty sure traxxas kinda targeted it towards beginners and to start off with a car that immediately does 60+ isn’t a great idea

Ready Set RC I see... yeah I just got this car and looking into upgrading the motor. Everyone keeps talking about mambas or vxl's. I dont know which route to take. I wanna say Velinion because Traxxas makes it.
@ReadySetRC7 жыл бұрын
MotoGamer All depends on why you are upgrading. I've owned 1/10 scale onroad brushed rc's with 12T motors in it. I wanted something with a little more power but not to do speed runs. If you are looking to do speed runs, then I would suggest going Mamba Monster. But keep in mind the guys putting Mamba Monster systems in this kit are putting the 1/8 scale system which can handle 6s power they are trying to achive. If you are looking at the 1/10 scale system by Castle Creation, you have the Sindwinder system which can handle 2-3s and at that point I would go with the VXL. There is the 1/10 Mamba Max Pro that can handle the 6s also but I have not used this system before. If you want to go outside the box there are some good Hobbywing systems out there as well. Hope this helps.

Hey I know this is 5 years old, but I just put my upgrade in this weekend. It sounds like the gear mesh is off. I used the stock pinion so I used the same mounting holes "C" on the new motor. BTW not my first motor/ESC change. I've set the mesh on plenty other vehicles by hand. I even tried using the 25T gear & moved to the "G" mounting holes. Same thing. Any advice? 00
@ReadySetRC Жыл бұрын
@CGdoublezeroRC Man, testing out my memory on this😆 I did not have an issue with gear mesh but I do remember having a issue with gearing after my first run. Mine was the driveshaft stripped out the spur gear center. I would suggest checking the seating of the spur gear. Also I would suggest putting the car up on a stand, don't install the pinion and spur cover and give the car a little throttle. What you are trying to identify if the cover is putting too much pressure down and disrupting the mesh. If that doesn't work there is an Hot Racing adjustable motor mount but I don't think that is your issue. I really feel it's how it is seated.
@cgdoublezerorc Жыл бұрын
@@ReadySetRC Thanks for the reply. After being frustrated I'm sure I tightened the spur cover too far down because it wouldn't spin at all. I thought I had it too loose & that was letting the spur jump up out of place. I tried it w/o the spur cover, the spur gear & drive shaft jump away. So disappointing! Waited for 2 years for this upgrade. Santa brought it 4 months ago & I'm still dead in the water. Thanks for the ideas. 00

Hi, awesome video. I followed your set up and did the exact same set up. Very easy to do.Thank you. I do have one question. When I got my car, I never ran it, I wanted to wait for the Velenion set up. So, after installing the Velenion, it ran great, but I have no reverse. I am not sure if this car has reverse or not. If it does, did I do something wrong? Thank you and keep up the great videos!!!!!
@ReadySetRC7 жыл бұрын
Bud Mahoney Thank you for watching and the support. Once you connect your ESC to your battery you may need to program the ESC and transmitter. Another thing to keep in mind, make sure low voltage cutoff is set on your ESC. To enter program mode you need to hold the power button upon turning it on. It should light green then red then blink red for each mode. I've attached the Traxxas link instructions if you run into any issues. traxxas.com/support/Programming-Your-Traxxas-Electronic-Speed-Control
@budmahoney25847 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the quick reply. I followed the setup link you sent. Red light blinks once--full forward, red blinks twice, full reverse. It then blinks green showing it should be calibrated. I re calibrated it and still no luck. When I hit reverse, the green light blinks the goes steady. When in forward mode the green light goes out. I performed this process a few times with the same results. Is it possible that the new ESC is bad? Or just what I am doing is bad? Honestly, Ive never ran into this type of problem before. Again, I want to thank you for all of your help.
@budmahoney25847 жыл бұрын
Ok now I feel really stupid. After following the setup link, I read it a bit further down the page (here is where the stupid part comes in LOL) I see the 3 different profiles modes. Hmmmm #2 race mode looks alot like what I have---full forward, full throttle and NO REVERSE!!!. Followed the steps again for the Sport mode and NOW I have full reverse too!!! Live and learn. Again, I really want to thank you for all of your help. Bud

What else, can you please give me a suggestion? Thanks I'm a newbie.

Also I change my front tiers with the same size as the wide one's on the rear would I get better traction are should I just changed all 4 and if I did what would you recommend? Thanks, a Fan
@ReadySetRC7 жыл бұрын
Tank 62 The cooling fan is optional. As for tire size, depends on what you plan on using this kit for. If it will be speed runs, I would advise changing the tires all together. Maybe going with a foam or tires rated for speed. I can't suggest specific set of tires but if you are trying to keep your speeds closer to 60 mph I've always liked the HPI X Patterns. @SH FAN A brushed DC motor uses a configuration of wound wire coils, the armature, acting as a two-pole electromagnet. The current's directionality is reversed twice per cycle by the commutator, a mechanical rotary switch. This facilitates flow of the current through the armature; thus, the electromagnet’s poles pull and push against the permanent magnets along the outside of the motor. The commutator then reverses the polarity of the armature's electromagnet as its poles cross the permanent magnets' poles. A brushless motor, by contrast, utilizes a permanent magnet as its external rotor. In addition, it uses three phases of driving coils and a specialized sensor that tracks rotor position. As the sensor tracks the rotor position, it sends out reference signals to the controller. The controller, in turn, activates the coils in a structured way - one phase after the other.
