Traxxas 4 Tec 2.0 First Brushless Run

We take the Traxxas 4-TEC 2.0 with the VXL system installed out for the first run on 3S with the stock gearing. Nice run. Handles well. We will be gearing up. Enjoy the video!

I had a 29 tooth pinion gear when I got the VXL and 3s. Super fast. Then I went down to stock gearing and it was actually very similar to 29t gearing. I was shocked that it still burned out and drifted with stock gearing. Stock gearing is more than enough to have fun with vxl and 3S. Higher speeds just make for higher risk of crashing.

@GoProKMH It's a very old Tamiya Xanavi body. Not sure if it's even being sold in this shape anymore. Maybe eBay still has it but I bought it from Tower Hobbies when they were still Hobbico, somewhere around 2008.

with other pinion and spur gear you'll need better tires I can't go over 3/4 throttle without spinning out and flipping over due to wheels ballooning.

@Elijah Reno My gearing in this video is not the VXL gearing this is the brushed gearing. This car was converted from brushed to brushless. You may have to watch the entire series of videos but this is a touring build for me. There should be a playlist for this on the channel if you are interested.

Donald Barron This was 21T Pinion with the 70T Spur. The 29T Pinion with 70T Spur is a optional setting for high speed runs only.

Donald Barron I haven't ran it in a few months but going to take it out in the next couple of weeks. Since the last video I've changed out all of the links to the adjustable Traxxas links. Changed out the servo to the Savox black series servo. Changed the gearing to the brushless model gearing. Just need to get it back out. Yours sounds like a sweet machine.👍 How's the temps with that gearing?

Jacob Henson Thanks for watching! When I got this kit there was no brushless offer from Traxxas nor the mention of a brushless edition. I would say if you are looking for brushless at this point probably best to get the brushless edition. There is a little more than the ESC and motor that are an upgrade on the brushless edition. Hope that helps.

@All You Can Do Not a budget build nor a speed run car. I'm looking for more of a touring setup. At the time of this release and this video there were no brushless editions or conversions of the 4 Tec. I was looking for a direct fit and believe the Velineon gave me the best option. This video was the first run, made almost 3 years ago. Car actually goes 50+ and steering is more dialed in since this video. For my more budget friendly setups I like the GoolRC setup. Even more affordable than the Hobbywing setup.
