Traxxas Bigfoot 1 Speed Test With Race Gearing

Hey everyone!
Today we will be doing a Traxxas Bigfoot 1 Speed Test With The Supplied Race Gearing.
Like most Traxxas RC vehicles, the Bigfoot 1 comes with an extra pinion gear that Traxxas calls race gearing.
The original set up on the Bigfoot 1 is a 14t pinion gear that gives the monster truck some monster torque!
After switching the pinion to the supplied race gearing, we were able to hit 29 mph top speed. This is just about exactly the peed of 30 mph that the box says you can achieve.
After doing some speed runs, we tried running through some thick nasty grass & ended up stripping some gears.
This was our fault as Traxxas clearly states the race gearing is designed for smooth surfaces & hitting top speed.

29 mph is really impressive for that big truck with brushed motor and nimh battery. I just ordered 2 stampedes for my grandson and myself so this video makes me very happy. I think the only thing that would have run through that grass is a Toro. 😁 Just subbed and binge watching your videos. Thanks for posting.

Awesome Bryson! I am on a pretty big Bigfoot kick at the moment :) Absolutely love this truck! The Bandit continues to be my all time favorite buggy. Both are easy to work on & upgrades are fairly cheap & easy to get. On a stock basis the Bigfoot has better ground clearance & off road capability. I would go with the rustler over the bandit, it is larger. The bigfoot would also be a good choice, or even a brushed redcat dukono.

You are going to need the 19 gear on there and you also need to put it onto race mode for it to do the full 30nph

@Katrina Cales Hey Katrina, When in race mode, you will have no reverse. This mode is used mostly for track racing as many tracks don't allow reverse. There is no extra speed to be gained. To enter race mode, hold in the EZ button until it trurns green, then red then blinks red. When it blinks red twice, release the button. The LED will blink then turn solid green. I put the Bl-2s system in my Bigfoot with the 90 tooth spur and 19 tooth pinion and only got 24 mph

Just got the Bigfoot. Fun truck, one question, can you get a second battery and a dual connector and run it that way? I saw AMain has one wired up already. Also is that fancy charger worth it?

Hey dumdum! I don't think there is an actual Traxxas connector for 1/10's. I believe the one you found was on a 1/16, like on a e revo. If you could find a secure spot for another battery, you may find a connector that would work. Keep in mind this won't increase speed, only run time. Which charger are you talking about? @@RCInsiders Thanks for the reply. I was wanting the extra run time. The charger is the ID charger from Traxxas. I ended up getting the 4 volt one for the faster charge time.

I think your mesh setting was off on your pinion and spur gear cause I could hear the gears slipping when you first took off in the grass. I have the same truck with a brushless motor and esc upgrade among a few others and I got 54 mph out of mine and that's not at full throttle but soon as my speed gets in the 50 mph range the front end won't stay down. The wind picks it up. I got a chunk of lead mounted in the front and still can't keep the front wheels down.

Hey Tj You may be right. That was some thick nasty grass, but it should of made it. I am having the same issue with the Bandit. We upgraded to brushless. When we get close to 60, it lifts off the ground. This has resulted in some pretty nasty crashes :) We have weighted the front & next will add a front spoiler to get some extra downforce. Hey Ashton, You cannot run 3s with the stock esc, The XL5 esc only handles 2s. But yes, if you upgrade the esc & run 3s it will definitely go faster :)

Awesome! The Bigfoot & Stampede are basically the same size. The Bigfoot body is a few millimeters bigger & the wheels are slightly bigger which gives it a bigger & meaner appearance 😜 They are both built on the same chassis/platform. The original gearing is better for getting out of turns and acceleration. Straight line speed on pavement means nothing. These trucks are for dirt. period !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
