I bet it would perform a bit better with lighter center diff fluid. I like it so it will wheelie from hammering it from a stand still, but otherwise will diff out. Just my preference

I simply added an actual 3650 sized motor and an esc that was 3s capable but ran it on 2s. Its a standing backplipping machine on 3s, the smile my son has when he drive it is very enjoyable. So far, no drive train mods or issues. It's my first and last traxxas I will ever buy.

Hobbywing G2S systems are nice. You should get your telemetry and control through Bluetooth (built in) At least that's how the Max 8 G2S works.

I love my x maxx so I bought a mini maxx for my son for Christmas, half hour later it snapped completely in half right behind the front bulk head , I hope the chassis are cheap to replace, hopefully some one comes out with a chassis brace.

Stock its a fun rc I think you will be surprised how good it is out of the box. Just like anything you add more power your going to find the weak links but it should be common sense not to go 3s without some type of slipper or center diff especially on a monster truck with big tires like that. Its a skill 1 rc designed for kids or entry level fun if you leave it 2s I bet you will be fine just ignore youtubers like me doing this just to experiment and get views

I think it would’ve been a non issue if Traxxas didn’t overtly say it was ready for the 3s upgrade out of the box with “Normally found in much larger 4X4 vehicles, 32-pitch gears deliver total reliability no matter how much power you pour on. Even Velineon 3-cell LiPo power is no problem for Mini Maxx’s ultra-stout driveline.” I’m back in the hobby this year, only having nitro trucks when I was a kid so honestly it wasn’t obvious to me that the direct drive would be an issue. Since I have the 3s Typhon Grom with the big badlands on it doing well over 50mph and standing back flips all day with much smaller drivetrain components and haven’t seen any issues yet. I do plan to run a similar combo to yours but just keep it on 2s.

I like Traxxas as much as I do any other brand. I have no loyalty to any of them. HoBao is my favorite. The issue I think is that it isn't built like most wanted it to come out. Its a good ride for a kid. The problem is they should have said it must have the upgraded center diff out the box or a slipper. That's why it keeps blowing diffs and those diffs aren't that great to begin with. It should have come with the 3s VXL system and it should have come with the center diff. That's where the disappointment comes in. So how much do you have $ invested to get it to this point?

It says skill level 1 it is a entry level rc because not everyone wants or needs 50 mph stock out of the box on 2s its fine but yes I still think it should have a slipper at a minimum but like anything if your going to ramp up the power expect to upgrade other parts. With the slipper clutch I havent blown the diffs like everyone else so the secret is the diff. Maybe they will make a vxl but I think its a bit small for the 3s. I have a Hobao video coming up I hope you will enjoy it

doesn't matter now but they make adapters (sleeves) that adapt a 5mm pinion down to a 3.175 shaft. Suprised you are not aware of them.

I will say this, the Omni-Terminator handles 100X better then that Traxxas ever could😳… but if you widen it you might have something here👍🏻 you already put all this work into the truck… might as well widen it…

Bolt in the body mounts, and get teathers for the body pins, get drwall tape and glue and skids for the roof and rear and a new esc because the one on there is not programable the punch is non existent and the brakes are waaay to strong other than that its a good rc but not in the same category as the Mini

No its not trash don't believe the crap and the mt10 is far from one of the toughest 🤣🤣 first off it only has 2 diffs, second I actually own both rc's so look up my vids on it adding a center diff I haven't blown anything so you don't need anything for the front or rear thats people over powering a direct drive third just wait we will see how long you run that mt10 before you swap out the esc, break a control arm and motor mount not to mention body pins if not the whole mount lol. Just saying from experience. Lastly your not even comparing right you have a 10th scale v what a 14th scale look at the Syncro4, Kagama4 or one of the Redcat Valkyrie's that are 4s and cheaper then you will see you messed up its a good rc but not out of the box look up the Facebook page for the mt10

I am going to add a little weight to the rear or get another set of the softer rear tires for the front so they ballon more and have better air control. Personally I am not a fan of these smaller cars I like the 6s stuff I see where this is the entry level maxx to get you started too many people expect to stick 3 or 4s in it and it survive and you know if it say Traxxas its hated lol

I’ll be getting that version because like it is in 2s I know I won’t be happy with it because my main reason for having a bashed is being able to do flips and stunts and you need a lot of power and wheel speed for that

You can put a center diff, but the flaw is still there. You don't eliminate the problem. Because of that the mini Max is more expensive. Buying 1/10 for that amount of money will be much better. Traxxas have good rc, yes, but this mini Max has become the biggest disappointment with big false claims. The grom lineup is brushless, ready, and the price is lower, and with all the upgrades needed. As any person will say, you can spend the money whatever rc you want, but you buy a mini Max with flaws and false claims

First a comparable grom is 230 20 bucks cheaper so not a huge difference next they dont advertise it as 3s ready if that was the case you could plug a 3s into it next I ran this on 3s nothing broke why does everyone miss this point??? No the other groms that you missed the videos on everyone blew the diffs to pieces running brushless on so no its was not ready. All the upgrades a center diff wow thats a lot lol the flaw is direct drive if you want 3s

My mini revo blew diffs as well on 3s had to upgrade the diffs haven't had a problem. The problem i see is there isn't an upgrade from traxxas yet. The videos I see is people jumping them and breaking the diffs on 2s. I have always been a person that upgrades traxxas servos and diffs to hardened gears.

Not really a fair comparison because the MT10 is a 10th scale much larger vehicle. The Traxxas is 90 bucks cheaper and is totally ready to go except aa batteries. Stock it doesnt need anything to go its pretty tough and durable. The MT10 has a bad esc the brakes are way too strong and its locked out (and yes I know the razor rc hack) it doesnt fix the lack of punch. The body mounts are held in with body pins so you will loose those and the body pins as well because they go straight not sideways. The body is extremely weak and some have had motor mount issues righ out of the box because its thin metal and tends to flex. I never had a control arm break but I dont skate park and I got rid of the overly thick shock oil but thats another complaint is the a arms being weak. Good part is there are tons of upgrades for it but for that price I would go Team Corally Kagama4 or Syncro4 or even the Red Cat Vigilante all better value for the money. The Mini is a begginers car for kids or those that are fine with 29 mph and not much air control for jumps that just want a tough rc to play with.

@craigknox8516 its not a bad rc it needs a little work I have a review video on it under the reviews folder or search mt10 and see what I have done. As long as you dont skate park the rc it should last at least I would think I haven't broken anything arm but the body is a sore point I installed teathers and I still lost a body mount and pin! I hot glued them in lol real crap design. The rear of the bed folds up too there are a few people that make body protectors I would look into it before you use it. It's decent I hope you enjoy it if you can swap the esc you can leave the motor its fine but a new esc like I showed in one video makes a huge difference. I would lower the wheelie bar down at least 1 hole if you look when you get it there is not a lot of material that top hole is weak it will break since moving mine down 1 hole I haven't broken it knock on wood

@craigknox8516 it simply needs an actual 3650 can motor, done deal, keep the 2s. Ever notice how the stock motor is really a 3640ish with 16 gauge wire? The stock esc has 14 gauge wire, using an mt30 connector. That’s micro scale stuff. A cheap HW Gen1 quick run system is light years ahead of the bl2s. I love mine, it’s just about $40-50 overpriced.

@Js_junkyard yup thats how I selected a motor beforehand looking at the pictures I knew it would be tight. Its actually a decent rc on 2s even the factory setup is ok maybe a simple pinion change. Its new people want to know and it gets views so I pumped up the power. Yeab it's spaghetti coming off the motor I really wish they would make a 3s bls that might be worth something sell the rc with a 2s or bare so its slower for beginners or cheaper for those that have the parts

Yup it will work, you just need the gear set to use the pinion in the rear diff and the metal driveshaft and cut it to size and there you have it or wait until January when the release them depends on how big of a hurry you are in

i don't get the traxxas hate in general. it's almost as if they gang up and talk schitt without ever even buying one, because they saw one video where one dude with an example of one had one bad experience. exactly its a beginner rc its what we need to get people into the hobby and its actually good stock I did a review of it and I was surprised how fast it felt when you add power your pushing past the intended design thats why I added the center diff to help the drivetrain survive and so far its worked out good.

great video man. but here is my disagreement with you. who do they build these for? lol. you cant tell someone they dont "build this for you" if they wanted to build a cheap beginners car, thats what they should have done. I've been in the hobby for a while and things are getting unnecessarily expensive for whay you're getting. ill take trash electronics and a good drivetrain over the opposite. if this was another brand outside of traxxas, (sometimes arrma and losi too) no one would be making excuses. we should be pushing companies to do better as consumers.

Thank you, they build it for beginners slow and durable thats why its skill level 1. traxxas is not going to build a cheap car as much as people hate them it is quality stuff you get what you pay for. Do I think its expensive yes, I said for this price it should have a minimum of a slipper its a dumb idea the go direct. Last year I made a video Traxxas is asleep they are letting other companies come in offer good products that offer more at a lower cost. Problem with that is no local support and weeks to get parts a lot of the time. I said its not for you because most people watching KZbin videos are wanting speed and big air so you have to put that aside. We need people to get into the hobby and this is a good way. Could it be better yes I stated as much no rc is perfect fact is even the so called cheap brands are getting expensive it is out of hand. Price aside its a great beginner rc it drives well on 2s its not what I prefer but I see where they are going with it. Too many people dont think we should have a beginners car they want mega performance out of everything you cant make everyone happy Thank you for watching and the comment

I may have missed where you talk about that part, I was multi-tasking. I'll be looking forward to future videos as you test out more stuff. maybe I'll change my mind about it then

Hopefully some.shock tuning maybe matching all the tires it will drive better bit that is a problem with the smaller stuff. Every company has proprietary parts and you dont need anything to run the rc stock out of the box is fine its skill1 its for beginners if you want something faster and more capable you buy a Rustler VXL or even the Jato VXL If you want a better monster truck buy the maxx its a beginner rc when you pump up the power its expected you need to upgrade parts its all part of it but stock its ok I do think it should have at least a slipper I think the direct drive is dumb I knew this and bought it like I shown a center diffs job is to protect the drive train I ran this on 3s no problems there are many options out there its not like they have a hold on the market so if you dont like it you get something else if you think its cool then you pay its ok to have a respectful debate no worries

Im a traxxas fan but htis car is in my opinion just a big bunch of lies from Traxxas, almost everything they say it can do it cant do. 1/10 scale driveline that cant take 3s on a 1/16 scale car. Super disappointed in Traxxas over this, several years of hoping and waiting for a mini Maxx only to be letdown

the grom doesnt have a center diff its direct drive and eveyone that went 3s blew up the diffs too Its my time and money its what the hobby is about experiment and have fun I can always go back to stock reuse the esc and motor for something else not money wasted at all
