Before I say anything else, Fil, I gotta say watching this video had me super impressed by your driving skills at the skatepark! Backflip after backflip you NAILED those landings! No way could I do that! It just looked so much fun out there and that's what it's all about, right?!?!?!?! Your no-nonsense and honest commentary makes it even better. Sage advice at the end there pal. I didn't want to like this truck because of all the usual reasons, but it seems clear that this is actually a good design. Keep on keeping on my good friend! 😁🙏💙👍

Honestly, the mini Maxx is so easy to drive, it was surprisingly easy to make it look like I knew what I was doing! 😅 Like you said, it's all about having fun! These mini basher are perfect for that. Sure, launch it 50 feet in the air on 6S and it'll not be fun any more, but that's not what they're about. 😉 I'm happy it's as good as it is. It was fun to experiment with Traxxas again. Great bash. This is awesome and I’m gonna get one. The one thing I keep hearing people mention is how it’s so expensive, but really, it’s not that bad. Let’s not forget that last year at this time Losi dropped those mini LMT Gravediggers and Sonuvadiggers on us. Those were $270 too. I bought one, Sonuva. It’s smaller than the mini Maxx, nowhere near as fast, can be really squirrely to control on pavement, and the headlights are fragile, like REALLY fragile (I’ve broken both so far 😂). It also only came with a tiny 810 mah spektrum battery. At least traxxas gives you a 3500 mah battery valued at $40. In the end, it’s always gonna come down to what fits your own budget and makes you smile. I still LOVE my Sonuva, it’s a friggin wheelie machine! Personally I like this, and will definitely get one. I don’t mind paying $270, and in the end, it’s my money and will surely make me smile.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Traxxas. That's the transmitter. That's it. They add very satisfying sounding switches for additional channels. But that's it. That's the Traxxas controller. If you let it happen you have many of them. They can however bind one transmitter to multiple receivers which is nice when your Traxxas fleet starts to get out of hand.

I kinda wish it would have came as a roller so I could install the electronics of my choice. Never have liked traxxas electronics. I feel like the truck should have at least came a slipper clutch at that price. Thanks for not giving traxxas a pass like some of the other KZbinrs on here. Great video!

alot of people said they wont do a back flip mine has no issues like yours. The diff hold up no problem to 2s my only complaint is the receiver box has no bottom so really isnt waterproof like they claim other then that i love mine

Oh radio issues, awesome! It made it through 4 packs at 25mph, unbelievable, I think that's pretty close to the speed of sound, easily the most durable truck I've ever seen, just don't forget to shoegoo the chassis. I'm sold, don't think it gets any better than this, hurry buy one before they are all gone, your welcome for that tip.

@Ragnarok881 I always thought planetary gears were stronger? Not sure why, just did. Lol. The problem is the pot-metal they used for them. Hell, I've broken a rear diff in a CC01 because it's made of cheap pot-metal. Traxxas shouldn't have cheaped out there. 👍🏻

Answer to your question; a couple of smaller brand cars over this one. It sure seems a fun and high quality vehicle (apart from driveline) but smaller brands often gives more bang for buck. Not trying to rant, but if you can get more for less, why go less for more. Nice work, as always! Car seems a good fun, and def would go for it, if the price tag was little more reasonable :)

What’s it worth to get what YOU WANT? Why get something you don’t really want because it’s more bang for buck but still not what you really want. Let’s say Mini Maxx not all that but still what you want. Sure you can get a(name your brand here) and have more bang for buck but if that’s what the hobby is all about we’d all have Amazon cars. Are there not others on KZbin who will buy a 3-4-5 hundred dollar car and dump another 3-4-5 hundred into it. Is it only ok to do this as long as it’s a 1/10 or 1/8 scale? On the other hand people were paying 150 for brushed groms then sticking another 150 or more into them to go brushless and with the parts it took to make them handle it.Other videos of people putting all the m2c this and vitavon that on their 400 dollar rigs,but it’s all good it seems until we get to the devil(Traxxas)then everyone is on a budget.

Id say the majority of people who hate on the mini max are just repeating what they seen from other KZbinrs and they don't even have one. From what ive seen, Traxxas might have over exaggerated with it being "vls 3 capable" and "10th scale parts" when it comes to people expecting it to perform like it's big brothers. It's fine how it is out of the box. You go and launch it like an Xmaxx, it's gonna break. I don't hate on Traxxas, but the only one i have is a High Trail. I don't exactly beat the crap outta my stuff either.

@@poorboysrc the scale that it is, there's absolutely no reason for a VLS 3 or a 3S lipo. If it came that way and it broke the diff so easily, then yeah, be mad. Tomley, with all due respect to the man, f-ing destroyed it (3 diff's I believe) and it was no wonder why. Yes it says it can handle it, but you gotta handle yourself too!

@@Hillbillypunk it's funny you mention that. In one of my last reviews (DEERC 14210 Basher, which is a 1/14 3S Brushless Basher), I reduced the throttle output on the radio to 70% for most of the video. 100% was fun for a speed run, but anything else = KABOOM! 💥

I love mine, what annoys me is no slipper clutch ( that needs 2 extra parts to fit) and body skids all extras. On smooth damp skate park it under steers. Well over priced.

Don't forget the wonderful pot metal diffs, Traxxas quality, impressive, almost as good as a cheap hypergo for only twice as much! Wow and it does like 25 mph, and I only have to put another 350.00 in it to handle 3s, what a steal!

Some excellent driving buddy. Sweet flips and landings. I'm no traxxas fan but that was a performer. The price tho, damn. I guess considering the durability, you may save money over repair costs long term. That paint scheme is trash. How played out is that? Some low effort body shells but durability is key. Straight forward review, great work.... The second I hit the post button. Broken chassis. That's not good.

I've had a Tmaxx 3.3 for 15 years. It's the same price now as it was back then. I feel with Traxxas you're just buying a name. This thing has parts that look the same as 15 years ago. Come on Traxxas step it up. I feel like there are better options unless you just want to waste money. Nice truck nonetheless though

let's see what they do about the "monkey metal" in the diffs..my older stampede 2wd kept blowing up transmission gears when i upgraded it to the velenion system and running it on 3S. had to get a proline transmission which so far is holding up because of the same material that they might have in the diffs now. cheers Fil! maybe if my 2wd stampede blows up the proline trans, then i'll check out the traxxas newer trans that they say is bulletproof.

Same thing on a bandit. Mip driveshafts and hd idler gear. Mod 1 gearing 16/36 with a revo spur gear. After it started shredding clutches. On 3s the whole car shakes apart. Had to glue all my suspension screws in to stop them from falling out. 20 year old design. Sold it as is for an arrma.

I got one the day it came out crashed into a couch indoors, and the steering servo striped out a gear. It also cogs super bad when u switch from fwd to reverse. Worse traxxas car i ever bought.
